The Rick Perry - ACORN connection explained: A primer for non-Texans
EnterStageRight ^ | Sept. 5, 2011 | Linda Prussen-Razzano

In 2005, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1823, which allowed people with a Contract for Deed to refinance their mortgage and convert the Contract for Deed to a Deed of Trust. They were then able to get out from under the terms of the contract, transfer title to their name, and assume full responsibility for their property and their lives. There were a number of steps homeowners had to take to comply with the law, and they were obviously responsible to pay the mortgage, but it gave homeowners greater power over their property.

ACORN, which supported HB 1823, praised the Legislature and Governor Perry for passing it.

So when folks go around bashing Governor Perry for signing these bills just because ACORN supported one of them, it tells me they are all hat, no cattle, and a person to be pitied. They are obviously not a Texan.

Funny, too, how Perry ripped into KBH for missing a vote to defund ACORN.

Palin called Perry a “true conservative”. Was she lying?

No, he was.

Cheers!

You should talk about all the other things AZ has done to make life hard for illegals.

Hint: instate tuition for illegals isn’t one of them.

Perry had ten years to do what Brewer did in one.

Instead he listened to his corporate masters and did nothing.

The big picture is that Perry did the photo-op with ACORN to appeal to ACORN’s constituency: illegal aliens living along the TEX-MEX border.

Exactly!

This is what the Perry Apologists don't want to talk about.

ACORN was just as much a left-wing organiZation in 2001 as it is today. They were progressive then and they are progressive now.

Yeah, that argument didn’t hold up in Arizona, so they took matters into their own hands.

Exactly. The liberal media are holding back the good stuff on Perry. Why would they show their hand now? They’ll keep the most damning stuff for the general election.

Bull you made the accusation, prove it.

You can’t because you made it up. You are becoming more and more desperate as your attempts to push bush2 down our throats are met with truth.

In AZ they cant shut down the Tohono O’dham corridor because it is a sovereign nation.

OK, which is it?

Is the border under the control and responsibility of the Federal Government or the Nation of Tohono O'dham?

If she enters, then we’ll know how she will do. Until then it’s speculation. Why couldn’t she shoot to the top, like Perry did?

I have lived on the border in all of the border states except New Mexico. I think I am entitled to an opinion here.

Hey Drama Queen, yes you do have a right to an opinion, one I would fight to the death to defend for you, what you do not have, is a right not to have your ill-formed opinion challenged.

I wouldn’t necessarily take the word of the insurance companies as a non biased source. Let’s just say that they probably were the reason why the legislature had to rectify the law after the tornadoes.

You should have seen the excuses made to people here after Hurricane Rita that insurance companies made in getting out of paying. Many people who paid in for years without a claim were denied. It was so bad that there were a couple of class action suits where the state was involved.

Sometimes these advocacy groups do the right thing.

That's actually true of every Potential GOP Nominee to the right of Hillary, with the exception of Governor Palin.

They have already shot their wad with respect to her and have accomplished nothing but making her stronger.
