Palin Sends Shot Across GOP Field's Bow in Fiery Iowa Speech (including Perry)
Real Clear Politics ^ | Saturday September 3, 2011 | Scott Conroy

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Sarah Palin still isn't a candidate, but in an aggressive bid to lay down her marker in the 2012 Republican presidential race, she delivered a speech here Saturday that was as confrontational toward the Republican establishment as it was aimed at President Obama.

Despite her high-profile endorsement of Rick Perry during his 2010 gubernatorial primary fight, Palin used thinly veiled language to leave little doubt that she sees the Texas governor and national front-runner for the Republican nomination as part of the problem.

“Some GOP candidates, they also raise mammoth amounts of cash,” Palin said. “We need to ask them, too: What, if anything, do their donors expect from their investments? We need to know this because our country can’t afford more trillion-dollar thank-you notes to campaign backers.”

Again and again, Palin urged her audience to confront “the permanent political class,” “crony capitalism” and “the good ol’ boys,” whom she said she took on as governor of Alaska.

[.....]

“They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed, a lot of corporate lobbyists, a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along,” Palin said. “It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen this kind of crony capitalism before.”

This shallow, selfish woman is going to run third party just to keep her name in lights. She will guarantee an Obama reelection. She hasn’t got the guts, smarts, or organizational ability to run a successful presidential-level campaign within the GOP.

Do not underestimate what can or not be done with this woman.....Palins' already successful and that without the standard prodical. Further do not underestimate her supporters in high places who have chosen to not yet make themselves known.

Another profanity poster. What has happened to FR? The entire culture has gotten coarser and uncivil, but Conservatives are supposed to be different. Maybe we need FR 2.0 -for grownups!

I watched a National Geographic show last night about predator life/world in the oceans. One featured a barracuda stalking and then attacking a group. WIth one bite, it cut the grouper’s head off, while munching on the rest of the body.

Then I said to my wife, “That’s why they call Sara Palin “Saracuda”,” she attacks the enemy and destroys them. No fooling arm.

Go Saracudda. Rule the seas. Vanish the Democrats. Take a bite out of our enemies and our fools, a very big bite!

Sounds to me like Palin’s position of illegal immigration is about the same as Perry’s.

You do realize that she was McCain's running mate when she made those remarks, and had to toe the boss' line on immigration, don't you?

She's made statements about illegal immigration this year that reflect her personal views much better.

Bachmann isn’t. Nor is Steve King or Lamar Smith or Jim Demint or Jeff Sessions just to name a few.

Sarah isn’t for open borders, but she supports amnesty, which will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen.

______________________

Sarah Palin is NOT for Amnesty. That has been an ASSUMED position assigned to her since she was McCain’s VP choice as a running mate. SHE has NOT said SHE favored ANY type of amnesty.

Please provide a credible source for Palin’s purported support for amnesty. Flies in the face of every thing has said she believes.

THANK YOU. Someone ELSE who asks that SIMPLE question. By the way — there is no evidence that she supports Amnesty. I searched in VAIN for hours a while back. The ONLY “evidence” given was that she was on the “McCain” ticket and since he supported it, naturally she did....???

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Any legislation that legalizes the status of those who broke our laws by entering our country illegally and allows them to stay is amnesty. Palin supports amnesty.

Mark my words

Your words are marked, as you desire. I hope you are prepared to own them when the truth of who she really is plays out over the next few months. I, for one, do not think that unfounded slander comports well with your tagline, and I will be delighted to serve your marked words back to you to memorialize that principle, when the time is right.

How do you define amnesty? Obama and McCain say they are against amnesty. They just want to legalize the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals by having them pay a fine, learn English, and get to the back of the line on an earned path to citizenship.

We had a "one time" amnesty in 1986 that essentially was the same thing, i.e., the legislation stipulated several requirements to receive amnesty, including payment of application fees, acquisition of English-language skills, understanding of American civics, a medical exam, and registration for military service. Individuals convicted of a felony or three misdemeanors were ineligible. No one disputes that this act provided amnesty.

She said we don’t need anymore crony capitalism, bailouts for business or earmarks for business.

Palin said paying off campaign contributors with tax dollars must stop.

Sarah Palin said: “I’m not for sale.”

If a million of us average Joe’s out here can find a thousand dollars to give to Sarah, she will have a billion dollars without any special business or labor interest buying her.

I’m saving my money......

There’s living proof of that in the Guardasil matter with the pharma company funneling money to Perry through a front group called “Women In Politics.”

The pharma company (Merck) that makes Guardasil also had one of their lobbyists in place as an aide to Perry.

Defending Arizona's immigration law is not a rejection of amnesty. Palin is on the record supporting amensty.

Check out my post #173.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

I was at the rally today with some friends. Gov. Palin was on fire. "Federal family? I never thought I'd say this, 'I want a divorce!'"
