Fox News Poll: 74% Of Republicans Don’t Want Sarah Palin To Run For POTUS

While Sarah Palin continues to stoke the fires and keep people guessing about her Presidential intentions, Republican voters seem to be speaking loud and clear:

All in all, most voters — 74 percent — think Palin should stay on the sidelines in 2012. Just 20 percent think she should run for president.

The groups most likely to support Palin running are white evangelical Christians (30 percent) and Tea Party members (28 percent). Still, majorities of those groups do not think she should run (62 percent and 66 percent respectively). In addition, 72 percent of conservatives, 71 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of independents think Palin should stay out.

Women (77 percent) are a bit more likely than men (71 percent) to say Palin should sit this one out.

Just among women, Republicans (26 percent) are more likely than independents (24 percent) and Democrats (15 percent) to think Palin should run.

If Sarah is going to run, she needs to enter the race and become a true contender. There is nothing to be gained by relying on a movie and different events to change minds. Holding out will not tame the media. Each person who enters gets a bump for a week or two, and then the criticism starts.Best to get the initial bite early on rather than later.

I think if she wants to be the nominee, she needs to participate and change minds in the way that people who vote expect a person to do.

There will be no consensus that she is the nominee. It is up to her to compete as a candidate and convince as a candidate.

No, I’m just saying that with this particular person Sarah Palin, it’s worked. I hate how she has been portrayed and demonized, but it’s gone on hard-core for three years now. Relentlessly. Ask any regular person on the street their opinion of her and you’ll usually get the typical ‘she’s not smart’ or ‘I don’t like her’ even though they can’t tell you why.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted how brutally she would be treated by the media. But it has provided a road map and warning to other candidates, IMO.

100% of me thinks too many people use public opinion polls as a substitute for thinking for themselves.

I love Sarah but I tend to agree. I am much more concerned about beating Obama than getting my favorite candidate to run.

That’s exactly the mindset the GOP/RNC is counting on.

If a FOX news poll said that 74% of FReepers should jump off a bridge; this site would get cleaned out.

I've had the same stupid comments about Sarah. A woman I admired who is very anti-obama told me she didn't like Sarah because she was a "slut". I was totally blown away. I asked her why and all she could say is "I just cant stand her because she looks like a slut." My arguing with her by giving her facts did no good so I just gave up.

If the GOP allows big government liberals, hand-picked GOP establishment poster boys and several others with questionable Conservative credentials, why not allow at least one true Conservative in the race. We’re adults. We can watch the debates and listen to the positions and make an informed decision on who is best to lead this country out of the abyss.

This poll is really stupid. And the “70%” should be ashamed if they actually think this way. Never in a million years would I support a Romney or Huntsman for POTUS, but if they want to run, more power to them.

“I love Sarah but...”

If Sarah got one vote for every time I have seen those words, she would win in a New York minute.
SO, you love Sarah BUT, would you vote for her? Because every vote DOES count.

It wasn’t simply that LBJ won, but Congress (both the Senate and the House) emerged from the 1964 election with 2/3 Democrat majorities, enough in the Senate at that time to override any Republican filibuster. I don’t think either party has had that large a majority since then.

Jealous and ugly women are all the same. Submissive women think we're not ready for a female president. They are the same people that were trying to get over their racism.
