New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has reacted angrily to a fight brewing in Washington over whether Hurricane Irene disaster aid may need to be offset by federal spending cuts.
The Republican governor told a news conference Wednesday in the flood-ravaged town of Lincoln Park he doesnt want to hear that offsetting budget cuts have to come before aid is distributed. He says no such discussion was held when help went to Joplin, Mo., where a deadly May tornado damaged 7,500 homes.

Obama is going to visit New Jersey on Sunday , takes time to set up photo op and write the checks
A-Ha !
The RINO comes fully out of the closet !?
” FREE MONEY !!?? Where, where !? Gimme gimme gimme !”
I hope our side is not stupid enough to try to ‘offset’ this. Just gives our political enemies too much ammo. Natural disasters should be handled offline. If we can do it with Iraq we can do it here.
why do we have to give money
to Christie the moocher
PAY FOR IT.
Christie cry baby. Booh hoo. Why aren’t there NJ state emergency funds?
why isn’t there state insurance premiums.
WHy does the federal taxpayer have to PAY? it’s YOUR problem
Chris, If Obozo’s minions jerk you around on “Federal Money,” here’s an idea that would probably produce all the dough you need to cover the clean-up:
STOP SENDING ALL THOSE FEDERAL WITHHOLDINGS TO THE IRS FOR A FEW MONTHS. Keep that “money” in NJ.
I’d also activate the militia and NJ National Guard as Obozo will NOT be pleased.
Wait, aren’t there other countries that are going to send us food and aide? Oh, never mind.

Please provide me the link to your FR post ten years ago when you told NYers to clean up the Trade Center by themselves. Then provide me the link to your FR post in 2003 when you criticized the Bush Admin for putting the Iraq War off budget.
Natural disasters should not be politicized. Our enemies on the left did that with Katrina. We DON’T LOWER OURSELVES to their level.
I don’t recall any Federal funds being wired to Chicago after the fire. Look what a great, trouble free metropolis it has grown into./sarc
I am with Mark Levin - Christie is a jerk.
+1
Very saddening.............
This plus appointing Muzzie judges to the bench.
I have little trouble with Federal dollars being spent (only because we are forced to send the FEDS money) in a fair manner to help with infrastructure but I do not believe in tax payer money to pay for those who by their own free will did nor pay buy insurance for their own private property. Otherwise, why not use Federal money to pay everytime someones home burns down and they had no insurance??????? I pay a heck of alot in insurance yearly ( Home, car, disability, health, umbrella, malpractice, etc just to name a few) Thousands of dollars a year.
AMEN!!!!!!
For all 5 of the most recent 5 years of data, New Jersey is DEAD LAST with only 60 cents of federal spending per dollar paid in federal taxes.
They appear to be the top donor state as NJ ranked 48th, 49th or 50th (17 times!) every year since 1981.
That's not a bad idea.
New Jersey is dead last, averaging only 61 cents returned for every dollar in federal taxes paid in the most recent 5 years of data.
That trend goes back 30 years.
If you think Christie would ever do this you are fooling yourself. He has jumped the shark big time.
