Everyone's terrified of Rick Perry: lefties, righties, and definitely those coyotes he says he executes while jogging. Politico's Ben Smith and Maggie Haberman report that Perry has done what up to this point President Obama could not: "wake up the left." Activists--involved in everything from the death penalty, women's rights, gun control, and campaign finance--are just cold freaking the heck out. "To the degree to which progressives are disaffected and unenthusiastic -- this is their 'holy sh**' moment," Jennifer Palmieri, head of the Center for American Project Action Fund, told Politico. It's funny because many conservatives -- not just the dreaded establishment! -- think it's their own 'holy sh**' moment too."...
All I see from your putrescent gob is anti-Perry blather of dubious veracity.
I don't see you actually supporting anybody. Who's your guy? 0bama? Hillary? Pelosi?
Come out of the closet.
Yeah, I can live with a Tea Party Congress and a President Perry. It will require some pretty constant involvement from us citizens, however, and probably more than we’re used to.
BTW, I don’t “follow” tweeting twerps on twitter.
Hey, with all the PDS screeds being posted lately, for all we know they could be Freepers!
Perry, whatever his merits or demerits, has actually governed a State for a considerable period of time. He's more than just a "campaigner".
0bama is the "great campaigner". That's all he actually does. Ever. He campaigns. He "organizes". He rouses rabble. He never does anything productive, protective, or useful.
Did you know Rick Perry's Texas receives $0.94 for every dollar it sends in and has to spend it's own money to protect the 1200 mile Texas/Mexico border (otherwise known as the U.S./Mexico border)?
Shout it from the roof tops!
Perry, on the other hand, is 10-0, with a lifetime record of being undefeated. That's not to address his merits or faults as a governor, but you have to admit, that many successful campaigns is not a lucky streak. It's a tradition.
If he is not strong on e-verify which does cut off much of the magnet of coming here for work, then I do not know if I can vote for him in the primaries.
How much are some of Perry’s biggest donors paying to hype the idea in the media that GOPers should get behind him because the Obama handlers are afraid of him.
Nothing like a good scare story to drive the sheeple into a corral.
Full disclosure - I am not yet getting fully behind ANY GOP POTUS contender and I am least inclined to supporting Romney most of all.
It must be pure hell, as an elected official, to realize that you, and your constituents, have been ‘scammed’ by your Party.
Imagine working for a company that you believe is selling cars to Americans, but in fact, they are selling guns to Mexican drug dealers.
You can quit your job - or go to work making sure they are replaced and imprisoned. R.Reagan, Zell Miller and Rick Perry - righting the wrongs.
Texans pay Federal Income Taxes!!!
I know that. It is why I use a lower case “l” and not an upper case “L” which may be construed as a member of the Libertarian party. I am a Liberal in the classic sense of the term i.e. Von Mises, Jefferson.
That said, there is still a big difference in saying you are for something, as the Libertarians do, and forcing it onto people as the liberals do. I am adamantly opposed to abortion but I am prepared to fight against it with out a governmental enforced ban. But certainly there should be nothing done to support it which is were the liberals are at. It would take a long explanation but I think ultimately a libertarian philosophy would free us up, along with a tremendous amount of resources, so that we could win the abortion fight at the hearts and mind level.
I am for open borders to a point but I am also for ending all welfare and enforcement of reasonable criminal laws. If someone comes here and either works or dies, lives peaceably or goes to jail (or deported forever) I am good with that. It is what was expected of my ancestors when they came here.
Same idea with drug laws. Use to your heart’s content but there will be no taxpayer funded rescue for you. And our laws will be enforced. Also since I am free I can refuse to employ a druggie, rent to them, or even refuse to sell them food.
Gay marriage is an oxymoron that I oppose but I find no need for Federal involvement in marriage. But balance this with this, if we were truly free you could have gay marriage but you would never have to hire, promote, live by or even associate with gays if you chose not to. Liberals say not only that they should marry but you WILL rent your apartment to them.
Freedom for a Liberal means someone is forced to pay for someone else’s activities and you are forced to pay for the collateral damage. That payment can be in wealth or restricted freedom. Libertarians say you are free but you must bear all the cost of exercising your freedom.
I cannot see much capital “R” that I support although I am for a republican form of government and not democracy. Let’s save that one for later.
Agreed.
Just remember: you had to explain it to me, and I'm not hostile to Perry.
I think when you have to pay full freight for your freedom you tend to be more careful how you exercise it!
If today your only retirement was what you had or your children could provide abortion would plummet.
If adoption was a private affair between mother and adoptive parents abortion would plummet.
If a mother had to pay full cost for an abortion there would be very few of them.
LOL!
... and an Aggie, too!
“Certainly has a 1980 feel to it, though Perry is NO Reagan.”
Unfortunately, to many FReepers on this board, Reagan is no Reagan.
I campaigned for Reagan in 1984 (at age 12) and am a devoted conservative Reagan Republican. But it cannot be denied that many FReepers on this board would brand the Gipper as a RINO if he were running today. “He raised taxes as California governor? He signed the amnesty bill as president? RINO!” I can just hear them, smug in their insular ideological purity. Any candidate who does not comport with 100% of the poster’s political positions is henceforth branded a RINO.
Thus far, Perry is the real deal, and the best hope to rescue our country from the Marxist. Hopefully all FReepers come to realize this.
So far, I like Perry.
But second on the ticket.
Good point. I agree that Reagan’s record would be nitpicked by FReepers. Reagan was not 100% perfect.
What Reagan did have, though, was a long record of writings and radio addresses on practically every issue that demonstrated how smart and engaged he was. His ideology and character were never in doubt.
Perry has written two strong books, and he has a fine record in Texas. But he has a few more question marks. Reagan was an open book.
I’m from Texas, so I’m excited about having Perry on board. I just have to be honest about what I think are his limitations.
