Not trying to take anything away from Perry's actual work, or compare him to Obama. I'd argue that Obama has never actually been in a tough race before. His toughest was against John McCain, and he had every news agency in the country bending reality to nose him across the finish line.
Perry, on the other hand, is 10-0, with a lifetime record of being undefeated. That's not to address his merits or faults as a governor, but you have to admit, that many successful campaigns is not a lucky streak. It's a tradition.
