Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’
WSJ ^ | August 31, 2011 | Danny Yadron

Posted on 08/31/2011 8:11:56 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first nominating contest next year.

The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. It’s also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.

The former governor’s team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. O’Donnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. O’Donnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

This is very aggravating. A new tea party trying to get off the ground with a bunch of amateurs at the helm. Now they want to be famous.

There in lays the problem...unfortunatley the Tea party remains in the formation mode and some of it's formers aren't exactly quick on the uptake....still am glad they are out there marching to the beat. I trust Palin knows how to play it favorably when all is said and done.

You are such a disingenuous joke, Norm. All made up bluster. Soon you will be a bad memory. You know it and so do I. You will go back to sleep until the next pre election cycle.

LMAO.

Any candidate that would abandon their plans/agenda to accommodate the desires of overanxious ‘supporters’ is one that will bend to accommodate special interests and ‘poll numbers’ once elected.

That simple.

Hit the abuse button Lindy. I keep telling you that.

Why won’t you put your money where your mouth is? According to your posting history you use that mouth to ramble often enough. Please, go waste JR’s time. Be my guest.

I’m not so certain she will run...but regardless the candidates will have to contend with her and the throngs she influences....and she does just that...thru all those you listed...and successfully so.

I’ve been asked if Palin gets behind another candidate will I vote as she might suggest by doing so. Nope...I don’t follow who politicians think I should vote for....but if it’s my plan B Candidate...well of course.

I give the true Palinites alot of credit..they are steadfast supporters and defenders of Palin. And they will post facts we can appreciate as she goes along.

I hope she runs....but if not I willl not be disappointed for she will impact this race in every way just the same. I see her as true Patriot and Conservative for the most part...and for that she has my support anyway she plays it....unless of course I disagree.

And it is even worse when you do it for bundlers. The moneymen are betting heavy on perry and romney. Texas moneymen talked perry into this race and they WILL try to protect their investment.

I don’t feel abused, Norm. If my dog had fleas I would deal with it.

Drama boy. Always bringing up JR because you can’t deal with it.

So true. And that’s yet another reason they fear her. She is unbeholden to their cash and ‘influence’. If there was a ‘nightmare scenario’ for the old guard pols, she embodies it.

Other ‘could have’ in the past. She just happened to be the person who did it.

Oh, I think we know the real story.

Sarah endorsed O’Donnell as payback for their support of Miller. Christine flamed out spectularly and has practically no support anywhere even in the “Tea Party”. Palin arranged to speak at this event for reasons that have been speculated to be a presidential announcement but no one really knows. Christine insinuated herself into the event because if Palin did announce she’d be guarenteed a lot of press herself as one of the speakers at the same event. This Tea Party group agreed to allow her to speak because their leaders are unwilling to admit what a horrendously radioactive and unstable candidate she was.

Full disclosure...I supported her to destroy Castle but I sure didn’t try and spin her as a good candidate. `At best she would have been a Harriet Miers “vote the right way” if elected but best kept out of the spotlight.

Palin understandably doesn’t want what cache she still has to be tainted by O’Donnell. And if she WAS planning on announcing for the Presidency having O’Donnell tag along as a back drop is a huge drag.

The problem for Palin is now that Christine is so closely linked to the event even if she didn’t speak you can guarentee any news reports of what happens there will include her in the coverage. And it doesn’t help her that she endorsed O’Donnell and is now publically running from her.

What she should have done was keep her date speaking there but arrange to “miss” any appearance with O’Donnell. If she had planned to make a major announcement then scrap it and immediately arrange an environment she would have been in full control of. She isn’t at fault for the actions of this coalition running the event but this drama was unnecessary and could have been avoided if she had a more talented team managing her affairs..

Deal with what exactly Lindy? A troll that plays victim, makes excuses and claims that there is some unseen cabal that got their panties wadded up because I won’t let them spew their crap uncontested?

If I’m the troll you claim and ‘disruptor/troublemaker/sleeper/DUer blah blah blah’ then either stand behind your accusations and hit the abuse button, or look like the impotent fool you appear to be.

Simple ;)

Senator Daniel Webster (1782-1852) wrote, “Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.”

Those are the sort of people who are in charge of practically everything today. The RINO elite would rather preside over the destruction of America and the deaths of all its citizens than to turn power over to someone else.

If Sarah Palin flaunted them and won the presidency, and then—oh, the humanity—did as well as Reagan, or even better, how could they live with the knowledge that she had done what they could never have accomplished?

They don’t have the stones for seppuku (vulgarly known as hara kiri—hah rah key ree, not harry karry), so they would be left to stew in the foul juices of their own worthlessness for years or decades, until they finally received the blessed mercy of breathing their last.

Ah, I’ll have good dreams tonight.

Oh, that’s right, blame the WSJ. This group is not ready for prime time. You don’t “put on hold” an event that you committed to a long time ago because another person has been invited. You don’t move to another venue in the same town. This is a terrible, terrible move on SP’s and/or her advisors’ part.

A week or two ago, if anyone on this site so much as suggested that she was not going to announce her candidacy at that event in Indianola, IA on 9/3, they were given full court abuse. PalinFRistas and others made plans to be there, some traveling 1000 miles, for what was imagined as an historic event, vowing to crawl on broken glass (or hot coals), etc. to see tht she was elected.

And now, this? Christine O’Donnell gets invited, so the SP appearance is “put on hold?” I am having a hard time believing SP could be that petty. But it’s not a good reflection on anyone who wants to be POTUS, that’s for sure.

Yes, you are rather “simple”, Norm. That is why I am cutting you loose. LOL

Most people know when the conversation is at it’s end.

I know it is very hard for you, but it is at the end.

Wrong. I said repeatedly that she would not announce there and not a single person flamed me for it.

My lesson was in 2006 when most of us were all so sure that the polls predicting a Democratic takeover of Congress were all wrong.

They had scheduled CO to speak immediately before Sarah. They said they had “squeezed her in.” That means that they had to take time away from someone else and that she would be the last person on stage before Sarah. THAT was ridiculous. They could have scheduled her anytime, but to choose that particular time was the height of stupidity.

No there wasn’t. In fact, most of us thought that was a setup to trap Palin into announcing before she was ready, trying to force her hand. If they had succeeded in hyping her supporters to the max, and then she didn’t announce, it would have been pretty bad. She set it straight pretty quick. No flames from us. No way.
