A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.
Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBCs chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would love to see us as second-class citizens and some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree.
Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to the effort that were seeing of Jim Crow.
The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the internet Tuesday, and Carsons office stood by the remarks. Jason Tomcsi, Carsons spokesman, said the comment was in response to frustration voiced by many in Miami and in his home district in Indianapolis regarding Congress inability to bolster the economy. Tomcsi, in an email, wrote that the congressman used strong language because the Tea Party agenda jeopardizes our most vulnerable and leaves them without the ability to improve their economic standing.
The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities, Tomcsi wrote. We are talking about child nutrition, job creation, job training, housing assistance, and Head Start, and that is just the beginning. A child without basic nutrition, secure housing, and quality education has no real chance at a meaningful and productive life.
Carson is hardly the first lawmaker to use heated rhetoric. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) yelled you lie as President Barack Obama was addressing Congress. Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) yelled baby killer at former Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) as abortion was being discussed during the health care debate.
Carson, who represents Indianapolis, is the second Muslim to ever serve in Congress. He has been in office since 2008, and took the seat that was held by his late grandmother Rep. Julia Carson (D-Ind.).
It is time for our REPRESENTATIVES to stand up and CONDEMN THIS CRAP RIGHT NOW!
I was astounded there was not more outrage with a congress member said that the TEA party members can go straight to hell.
This is the new tone that Obummer wanted? Right?
Will somebody please inform and enlighten Lloyd Marcus that the Tea Party is a bunch of KKK racists. He seems way too happy in his enslavement to it. Liberate Lloyd..... (:
No they aren’t. But the inner city of Indianapolis must be.
No, but maybe corrupt and dishonest politicians fastened into 500+ Pillories on the National Mall. Skin color and political party would NOT be a deciding factor.
a money tree?
It of course should've be condemned, but It wasn't because it's expected. It's normal behavior for most members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Typical liberal black victim scare-tactic syndrome. I think intelligent people...black and white...have moved on from that. These tactics can’t possibly work in the 21st century!
....or can they?
Bingo, that's exactly what their donig. Get ready for it.

This is his Facebook page. If you “like”, you can comment on his wall. I did and I see a lot of others are as well.
I never in a million years would have dreamed that Liberal Democrats would sink this low. I was simply waiting for them to do it from day 1.
My note to my representative, Kevin McCarthy...
Better get this race baiting bigot reined in. His totally UNSUBSTANTIATED comments that Tea Party folks want blacks hanging from trees is despicable and should be called for what it is. Inflammatory hate speech. Similar to his lies some time back that someone in the Tea Party supposedly called him and others “n__ger” and spat on him. He lied.
Since I’m unable to post my remarks directly to him, I suspect that it’s incumbent upon the office of the Speaker and fellow representatives to do so. His pathetic excuse that “frustration” caused him to make those comments is laughable to any decent person. He not only crossed the line of comity that the Congress has drawn to ensure the collegiality needed in a democracy, his hate filled comment obliterated it. If congress won’t censure this type hate filled rhetoric, then let the name calling begin. But beware, actions, or in this case, inaction can have serious consequences.
This kind of crap is going to lead to violence in the streets and I don’t mean by white folks either. Have you been watching the news lately about blacks going feral attacking WHITE folks in the “knockout game”? The kidnapping, rape, sodomy, torture and murder of WHITES by blacks? The so called “flash mobs”? The unprovoked attack by about 4 blacks on a WHITE in Philadelphia? And on and on, etc.
It’s starting and if it’s not contained and restraint used by our elected representatives, it’s going to lead to more bloodshed. Actions have consequences. I don’t believe any of those who insist on Balkanizing themselves (CBC) have any interest in serving the best interests of this country, so they probably don’t give a damn about WHITE folks getting robbed, beaten up, raped, murdered, etc. especially if it’s by their own kind. Just reparations, you know?
This so called “representative’s” remarks are quite similar to another race baiting piece of garbage who incited riots in New York a few years back, Al Sharpton. Jews were singled out and some killed.
Call this clown out and expose him for what he is. A treasonous, race baiting, hate monger attempting to incite riots. I don’t give a damn what color he is, he doesn’t deserve nor should he get a pass on this. So much for race relations in this country.
The blacks are doing more to tear down any progress than any white could possibly think of and on top of that, they’re getting a pass because white people are scared of being called a racist for telling blacks to behave like civilized human beings. Like free Americans could do some years back before political correctness.
Regards,
For all of those bitching for Congress to do something, write or call your reps and demand it. Posting on FR isn’t going to cut it.
Andre Carson: pimp and plantation owner.
Zero tea party members hold congressional seats. There are members that TEA party people support and admire. There are congressional members that say that they adhere to TEA party principles.
The TEA party is and idea and not an organized political party. Seats held by the TEA party? Zero.
Just curious, can you name one terrorist attack, attempted attack, or threat of an attack that has occurred since 1993 that preceding the attack the left DIDN'T gin up civil unrest, attempt to gin up civil unrest, or have a plan to gin up civil unrest?
To put it in more simple terms, name one terrorist attack since 1993 that doesn't follow the Weather Underground playbook.
They do not have the capacity to understand what the Tea Party is. The concept of a government that does very little and spends very little is something that they just cannot understand. Their concept of as little government as possible invokes images of the Dark Ages in their minds.
We have all seen the endless examples of all this blantant racism coming from the Tea Party folks..NOT
There is probably more video evidence of UFO’s and Yeti than racist tea party folks!
That doesn’t stop the likes of Carson and Waters from talking this non-sense. They must have a following or why would they say it?
Kind of shows who is thinking backwards now doesn’t it?
I suspect the real truth is... if they could get away with it they would lynch Tea Party folks..Conservatives, Constitionalist, and radio talk show fans?
No way to improve on BTW’s statement.
As one of the race-baiters (Jackson?) said a while back, “Big Government is US”.
I can only think that means that the speaker thinks that without big government programs, blacks couldn’t survive in our country.
What a sad thing to think and say about “your own people”.
