The heat continues claiming the lives of dozens of illegal immigrants facing extreme temperatures day after day out in area ranches.
For the Webb County Medical Examiner, more deaths poses a bigger task of identifying all those people who were left stranded to die alone.
Our Annette Garcia spoke with her about the illegal crossers their tragic story and chances of being reunited with their loved ones.
Dozens try but never make it.
This is one who illegally crossed the border who walked for miles most likely days, but fell victim to the blistering heat.
“We understand why they want to come across but it’s very dangerous. At this time of the year it’s more dangerous than at any other time. Its just too hot out there.”
This is what just one week of heat does to a deceased human body.
Medical examiner Dr. Coreen stern says the summer heat has claimed dozens of lives bodies that fill every inch of cooler space all left to be identified.
“I will send photographs of the decedent of their clothing if they had piercing if they had unique dental work. I take photographs of that.”
The process can take as little as 72 hours.
But for some patients, it takes every possible method to get a positive ID.
“just recently in the last couple of weeks we had an elderly man identified because his daughter had just bought those shoes before he went on his journey to come across.”
There are a lot of belongings that people wear on their person that help identify them these are just an example of that. This rosary and this watch were worn by two people that have already been buried. They were never identified.”
The deadly price for a better life in the United States. “I feel we are their voice.”
Stern says her patients are usually kept for at least 60 days to be identified and then buried by indigent services.
But she says because of the overwhelming number of bodies being brought in they're only staying for a few days.
Stern says still the majority of people do make it to where they are going meaning the deaths will continue until people learn about the deadly consequences.

Maybe the illegals should sneak into the US in the winter, when the temperature in the desert is not 110-115 in the daytime!
Foreign invaders should be buried Iraqi style: in a mass grave.
And of course, if they were in Mexico, they would have been perfectly safe.../sarc

These lawbreakers deserve death. Thankfully, the heat is doing a job that O'Bambi refuses to do.
Mexico is messed up because it's been run by Mexicans for hundreds of years. I don't know why they can't get things right, but watching them screw up my country isn't on my list of things to do!
I don’t mean to sound uncaring but these people live in Mexico. Its not like they don’t how stupid it is to go out and try to cross the desert in the middle of the summer. There is not much we can do about it except try to discourage them from crossing.
Better life includes American welfare, food stamps, taking American jobs, free education, free health care, have endless babies and charge the sucker tax payers, all while being coddled and pandered to by government at all levels, as they rush to print everything in Spanish. All this while the corrupt American leaders celebrate holidays like Cinco De Mayo up in the White House, while watching our electoral process being undermined and subverted.
I have nothing but burning contempt for those who've aided and abetted this epic betrayal of America and I want them held responsible for this 30 million man gang rape of our sovereignty, our borders and our laws.
Here is one of them, lending support and credibility to a racist organization, which totally supports amnesty, illegal aliens and the destruction of American sovereignty.
Make posters showing the dead, and send them to Mexico. Post them at the border. Maybe it will make people turn back.

I like this idea. Some of the posters could show dehydration victims, while others can show pictures of nooses and guns.
