In 1988 I wasn’t supporting Democrats. .

Did you know that Perry’s dad was a 7 term Democrat County Commissioner until he retired in 1996 and that the District voted Dem on into the mid 2000’s?

In recent years I haven’t supported massive government projects.

You aren’t a Governor of a massive government consisting of 1/10th of the US population and whose economy, if it we were a Nation, would rank 15th in the world. Big populations require big projects.

I haven’t opted to take 70,000 acres from my citizens, rather than improve current rights of way.

So you’re happy with hazardous materials going straight through on the existing rights of way in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas? Are you aware that Texans voted to approve new roads financed by bonds in a Constitutional amendment election in 2001? Or that the Governor has championed protection from eminent domain in every session since the Kelo Supreme Court decision?

I haven’t said I support open borders.

Neither did Perry. He said he supported then-Mexican President Fox’s vision "as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico's citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity."

I haven’t said I don’t want a fence or wall on our border.

How much Texas land and how many Texas farms and homes are cut off by the fence that exists, even with the periodic holes and gaps? And, since you’re not for taking anyone’s land, how are you going to build that fence – on land you take or in the middle of the much winding Rio Grande?

The Governor has advocated for "boots on the ground," surveillance, and the limited use of the wall or fence in cities where it's more practical.

I haven’t pushed for in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants.

Perry didn’t “push” it. He signed a bill that has twice been approved by a near-100% vote of the people’s representatives in the Texas House and Senate and which attempts to solve a problem created by Plyver vs. Doe, which prevents our school districts from even taking note of which children are illegal.

I haven’t stated that I would have a hard time sending long term illegal immigrants back to Mexico.

Both Governors Perry and Palin and Ron Paul have said similar things. Governor Perry has focused on keeping the illegal aliens out in the first place.

I haven’t tried to force women to take a new vaccine, one that seems to have killed over 100 girls, and cause immune deficiency problems for thousands of others.

It's estimated that 40 million doses of Gardasil have been given in the US, 60 million across the world. In spite of the fact that about half of the girls in the US have received the vaccine, not a single death has been connected to the Gardisil vaccine's effects. There is no evidence or mechanism, according to what we know about the body, that ties the vaccine to "immune deficiency problems."

YOU MUST BE HARD OF HEARING!!! I am on record HERE, going back years before I ever heard of Sarah Palin with this same view on polling.

I already mentioned here that I have held this view on polling for years and years, but you only hear what you want to hear.

There is nothing scientific about polling in 2011 period

Obama has been tried and found wanting. His support is brittle at best. A good dog-catcher would stand a fairly decent chance of replacing him.

If this were April and Perry had clearly won the nomination over our efforts to get someone better, I wouldn’t be pushing this issue.

It’s too early to settle.

I don’t disagree with your take on things, I just think it’s premature for those who actually buy into that mindset.

The sooner Bachmann is out the better.

Why?

She's still thinking about it.

More so, she's probably thinking about how to word her "thanks, but no thanks" address. I predict she'll endorse Perry.

Well then she would have totally wasted her time taking the heat from the Left for 2 years all while the new kids in town remained in the shade. Let's wait and see

It wont be long now

No one is “troubled” by Cain or Bachmann running because it is obvious neither one is going to get the nomination.

It is delusional to believe the Left is worried more about the above than about Perry. It knows very well how easy it would be to marginalize either of the above and how difficult it would be to do the same with Perry.

There is also no doubt the potential nominee the Left fears and hates above all is Sarah. I have never seen anything like the tsunami of hate it unleashed on her and her familty.

I don’t mind republicans running in the primary, I’d just prefer they not pick up democratic rhetoric in attacking their fellow republicans.

If your going to attack the character or record of a fellow republican come up with something new to attack.

What will never leave my soul, is the fact that we had a Republican White House, a Republican majority in the House, and the Senate. We had it for six years.

How much Leftist legislation was stricken down over those six years? Was our nation better off when that administration handed over the keys to the next guy?

With a Bachmann/Cain White House, a Republican (Tea Party) majority in the House (which is a real possibility), and a simple Republican majority Senate, I see decades of Leftist legislation destroyed.

With Perry/Anybody, I seen another Bush administration. They guy has said a number of great things in recent years, but he didn’t quite get it on many issues prior to that.

Can we afford another moderate Republican? I simply cannot say yes.

I appreciate your comments. I do think they were reasoned. I’m not trying to give you a hard time. I’m merely trying to explain where I’m coming from.

Take care.

Can you point us to any poll that shows your candidate in the lead?

Thank you in advance.

There is no way that Romney is a worse candidate than McCain.

McCain has indeed been undercutting Conservatism for decades. And he cannot be trusted at any level.

His failure as a candidate is also one of the main reasons why we have been saddled with the vile, traitor-punk we have in office now.

He created 90% of Texas jobs, through the govt. sector, not the private sector.

This talking point has been thoroughly debunked. It is true that about 25% of all of the new jobs in Texas over the past 10 years were government jobs. However, that number includes all levels of government employment: counties, cities, school districts, even the Federal government. So that number reflects police, sheriffs, school teachers, even Army and Air Force personnel and civilian staff working at military bases. Are you going to hold Perry responsible for the hiring that those governments did?

On the other hand, during that period, Texas created more net new private sector jobs than any other state.

You can make a case that Romney is just as bad as McCain, and perhaps even worse. He has no core principles, was a horrible governor (Romneycare), and simply says what he thinks you want to hear to get elected.

I like Bachmann as a congresscritter and conservative spokesperson, but she would be a huge mistake as the GOP nominee.

This is defiantly true, Romney, unlike McCain at least has a good excuse for his liberal actions in Massachusetts.

McCain not only sold out conservative and Constitutional principle’s he actively worked with democrats to undercut them.

There is no comparison between Romney and McCain. McCain didn’t even have a liberal constituency to appease, McCain like Lindsey Graham came from conservative political base, which they abandoned to side with the liberals.

Well, Cheney, in his book, question McRino's reason for stopping his campaigning to head back to DC...his campaign was in tank.

I also think McRino NEVER intended to win, it was all a set up.

—Protecting us from actually having an electable candidate?

I don’t know what you mean. I think we have several electable candidates. I also think that things play out in the election year. Not the year before. This year we get rid of the “not ready for prime time” croud. Sarah doesn’t even need to get involved yet.

No, Free Republic was "created" to support anything you believe and every candidate you wrap your arms and legs around.

Please point me to the post where I stated I would only support one cadidate until November 2012.

Please explain your comment about wrapping my arms or legs around any candiate.  That's actually quite offensive considering there are women candidates this year.  The implications rather digust me since I never envisioned such things concerning either of them.

Because, as we know, to be otherwise is just those darn RINOs takin' over.

You know, I put up with this bull-s--t in 2000 also.  At that time I was told that I was wrong about Bush.  I was told he was a true Conservative.

Were we handed off a better nation than the one Bush took over?  Was the nation on the ropes in January 2009, or not?  Did Bush increase the nataional debt by around 92% during his term in office?

Did we roll back Liberal programs developed over the decades, or did we actually double the Department of Education Budget, and add Medicare Part D?

Did we defund PBS, or NPR?  Did we address the political imbalance on our nation's college and university campuses?

Don't ya just hate it when people like other candidates? Ya know what? Its them Build-A-Burgers!!! They're everywhere!!!

This is actually a lark for you isn't it.  It's not for me.

Cain is not a “breath of fresh air”, unless it is the air of desperation. He is just the lightning rod for the disgruntled as was Alan Keyes in 08. Bachmann has been far too goof prone to take very seriously and I don’t. I have ZERO guilt for not supporting either of them.

While I agree that Palin is more of a populist than a traditional conservative but I also believe she would be a vast improvement over the current clown. And the fact that the Left hates her with a frothing hatred makes me love her.
We will know in a couple of days if she is running or not.

One thing I do know is that she has the ability to rouse crowds better than anyone I have seen in decades. That ability would make her a very formidable opponent.
