Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Democratic challenger Bill White don't oppose Ground Zero mosque in New York
Dallas morning news ^

Posted on 08/29/2011 5:08:34 PM PDT by Tempest

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry and Democratic challenger Bill White agree that while plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero have stirred controversy, they don't object to a local decision affirming the Islamic group's right to build it. A New York City planning commission voted this week to clear the way for a planned Islamic community center and mosque near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Saw Post #4..very close to Ron Paul, with a minor modification, around local citizen approval...(I'm not a Paul supporter)

I'm looking for an American Politician who has the guts to say:

"There will be NO Mosque built at Ground Zero!"

No such critter exists.

I can’t speak for all schools in Texas,

There are over 8,000 schools with over 4 million students

But in the district I live in there are 40 schools. Out of
those 40 schools:
18 are rated Exemplary,
27 are Recognized,
5 are Academically Acceptable and
0 Unacceptable.

The school my granddaughter attends is nationally recognized and has received national awards.

And also to note: our area is growing so fast we can’t keep up. It really is ridiculous, they cannot build homes fast enough and they cannot build schools fast enough.

I meet a lot of the public in my town and there are a lot of move ins. Some are coming here because their adult children with (their grandkids) have moved here due to a new job or relocation. They want to be close to their families.

As far a Perry creating new jobs if he became President:

He has made at least a basic start to it perfectly clear......

Don’t spend all the money,
Create a Regulatory Climate that is fair and predictable,
Create a legal system that does not allow for over-suing,

and then get the hell out of way.

Being a Free Country, that is the price we pay.

I have no doubt that New Yorkers can handle this just fine.

They can make the planners so miserable that they will give up their insane idea.

The contractors in New York were saying they would not work on the project. They would force them to bring in outsiders. And who would do it? I don’t think many Americans would.

There are ways to remain a free country but discourage unpopular unhealthy behavior. Things that make you say, “why would you do that?”.

BTW:

Yall know the stories about the Church that protests at the soldiers funerals?

Texas past a new law in our state that states they can only protest at a funeral up to 3 hours prior to the funeral and can resume 3 hours after the funeral.

Well have fun with Perry. You remind me of the old saying “there’s an ass for every seat”. He won’t get my vote in Primary because he can’t do what needs to be done. You like to try to win discussions by talking down to people. Reminds me of many discussions with libs.

“...and now you follow him around like a lost puppy.”

There are not a lot of my posts extolling the virtues of Rick Perry, but I do believe at this time that he is the one candidate that gives us the best chance of defeating Obama. Most of my time on Perry threads is spent poking fun at the haters.

“Geez, if you’re *that* into masochism, why don’t you just become a Chicago Cubs or Baltimore Orioles fan?”

I’ll go better than that, I’m a Mariners fan.

SLAVERY, TERRORISM and ISLAM

The following is a description (slightly modified) from Dr. Peter Hammond’s book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat. Link

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Six percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they won’t integrate, but work to build their own separate community.

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africa’s Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France last October.) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats.

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines).

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia].

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey and North Nigeria].

100% will usher in the peace of “Dar-es-Salaam” - House

A Free Country for how much longer with Islam in the gates?

>> Like it or not, people in America have the right to say what they will about it.<<

Yes they can say what they want but when they actively work to subvert our constitution and laws it’s a different thing. You and I speak out and work to uphold the constitution and our laws. Much different.

>> They DON'T have the right to bring their 7th century laws here or have the right to break our laws under the cover of religion or anything else.<<

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying. If we give them no quarter for their laws to supplant ours then they will not stay. They must, if they want to be Americans, denounce their laws and pledge to support our laws. All of them including the status of women in this country.

You mentioned you and I speaking out. I believe that we will end up being seen as the adversaries. Even within the Christian community there is beginning to be a split between those who believe we should embrace all religions and those who believe Christ is the only way.

Doughty, I used to think you were a Palinista. But you’re not are you. It’s Ron Paul all the way. That explains a lot. Are you high?

You keep going after people who've been here many years. Some of these people I've had disagreements with, but most are credible people, who've contributed and have made many excellent comments over the years.

Now you show up, and if they don't like Perry, suddenly all these people are Paul supporters, trolls, liberals, or whatever... I personally am getting tired of your Perry campaign parade.

You've pretty much exposed yourself over the past week as some kind of self appointed Perry campaign boss. It's vote for Perry, or your a troll...I find that behavior suspect.

Perhaps the issue could be decided at the state level, given its national significance. Would the citizens of the State of New York really want a mosque close to or at ground zero? I would think not.

If not, then the citizens could induce the State to exercise some sort of eminent domain over the private property in question. Might not be an ideal solution, but at least it wouldn't violate the federalism issues.

Any thoughts?

I would just imagine that if this issue were put to some kind of democratic vote, there would be no mosque anywhere near ground zero.

Admittedly, this is a very special and compelling circumstance, which is one of the only auspices under which I myself would ever consider endorsing the assertion of Eminent Domain by the state.

So Just whose standards are these? How do the "Exemplary" ones stack up against the crummiest, rattiest, nastiest Japanese school?
