My very first freep was when Bill Clinton addressed the VFW’s 100th anniversary convention, held in Kansas City in 1999. The first of numerous times my German Shepherd Max got to meet the Secret Service agents. Seems like good times compared with now.

Next year (election year) Obama will be there with bells on his toes.
One reason, I think they didn’t allow anyone of importance to speak this year is that he is pissed with the initial criticism by the VFW of his plans to cut veteran’s benefits. He is thin skinned.

According to the article, the WH offered UN Ambassador Susan Rice...and the Air Force and the National Guard each offered someone(s). WHY would military branches offer people instead of the WH? They must have known the WH is not offering Obama or Biden, and only worthless, nonsensical choices such as Susan Rice.
