A federal judge temporarily blocked enforcement of Alabama's new law cracking down on illegal immigration, ruling Monday that she needed more time to decide whether the law opposed by the Obama administration, church leaders and immigrant-rights groups is constitutional.
The brief order by U.S. District Judge Sharon L. Blackburn means the law won't take effect as scheduled on Thursday. The ruling was cheered by opponents who have compared the law to old Jim Crow-era statutes against racial integration.
But Blackburn didn't address whether the law is constitutional, and she could still let all or parts of the law take effect later. The judge said she will issue a longer ruling by Sept. 28.

I dare you to address this FACT. In 1860 there were all of 16,000 men in the US Army most, as you helpfully pointed out, IN THE WEST. Another FACT: The Cornfederate States began to raise an army of 100,000, SIX TIMES THE SIZE OF THE US ARMY.

My beautiful wife was God’s gift to me and left me with two wonderful boys both of which are nearby with their wives of whom she would be immensely proud. My Good Ole Boy brothers loved her almost as much as I and one of the fondest memories of my life is of the Fourth of July down home and the firecracker war which was waged. She pitched right in with the boys and threw bottle rockets at our opponents. I lost her at 43 but am still a blessed man for having her love for 20+ years.
