ST. LOUIS, MO. (KMOX) — There’s an alert out about recent assaults on bike riders in south St. Louis.
Trailnet.org, an organization that promotes hiking and biking, is cautioning riders to be on the alert for roving bands of teenagers who swarm and attack riders.
Trailnet says the latest attack was last Thursday (8/25) afternoon near Missouri Botanical Garden where a group of 10 to 15 African-American teens charged and attacked a cyclist.
“They weren’t really interested in robbing me. It just seemed like they wanted to beat me up,” says assault victim Cheech Ramirez. “They weren’t interested in letting me get off the ground and having a fair fight.”
Ramirez says he and his friends returned to the scene minutes later to help another bicyclist who was being beaten.
Police say there have been other, similar attacks in the city, and they believe all the victims are picked at random.
Mayor Francis Slay is calling for action, possibly with citizen bike patrols set up with the help of Trailnet and local police.
Police urge bike riders to be aware of their surrounding and call 911 when they see a swarm mob preparing an assault.

ONly this time it will come out into the suburbs, not stay in the inner cities. I have family all over this country and I’ve neve been more worried about them.
I read the article just to be sure it was bicyclists. I was pretty sure it wasn’t 1%’ers.
Yes indeed, every copy knows that racial profiling works. I see a group of a different race, I think twice. You have to, its common sense.
I actually think that blacks are unused to being at this level of criminal activity outside the ghetto and they are for the first time going into the nicer areas. They aren’t sure what sort of resistence they’ll meet so they’re being cautious and very careful about how they go about these things.
What a mess this country has come to when you can’t even enjoy a nice country bike ride without keeping your eyes open for a gathering of that special 12% minority.
That would be multicultural, no? An experience for the thugs as well as the person slicing their way through.
This is the most nauseating, nonsensical advice ever. Any intervention of such a nebulous group of "teens" would be met with instantaneous charges of racism. There would be no chargeable offense up until the time the beating actually takes place.
Furthermore, the "yoots" form up as a distinguishable mob to overwhelm one or two victims only at the very last minute. Their lookouts assure via phone that no cops are within a distance that can save the victim. If coppers do show up on the horizon or with sirens/lights ablazin', the perps get the advance word via phone and scatter as if the victim had started firing a Ruger 10/20.

An armed cyclist is a safe cyclist. Dont understand why they are even in that hobby in cities where black muslims/liberals dominate.

And that’s what bugs me. Blacks in the ghetto do not go out to the burbs to attack people. Thugs in general very rarely go out of their comfort zone and even more rarely do so in numbers, organized at that. Just getting it to that level is a feat.
I understand about going outside your territory and being more conservative. But that also lends to a higher level of fear due to being outside the comfort zone, and discipline can and does break down in the heat of the moment. In most of these stories things aren’t degenerating into shootings and stabbings, it’s primarily beatings. I find that unusual. To me this smells of community organizing.
Perhaps, but was that attack by a black man on a Korean woman organized? The problem with your theory is that it supposes that blacks are that fundamentally will to be organized in the first place. Black mobs (like any mob) can be organized, but they can quickly spiral out of control. This is just hurting Obama and isn’t going to work if intimidating voters is the goal.
It’s only beatings now, but will escalate come along 2012 elections if things aren’t managed right. They are only learning now that there is a wider world to destroy out there and organization is through cell phones and black berries, not through any real rallying of each other. each time they don’t meet with much resistance, quite frankly it’s a place they mark down as ‘safe’ to terrorize and take over. If ti were so organized, they would know where to go right away and create all that much more havoc.
Third, if Holder or any liberal were organizing these things, I am sure that the areas attacekd would be conservative areas, not posh liberal places like Greenwich and art festivals. They would be attacking churches, dominantly Republican neighborhoods, and they would be going after the homes of notable Republicans like Sheriff Joe or something of that nature. Snce they aren’t, but are instead going after ‘soft tragets’ in places like Greenwich, then I am sure that this stuff is done on the initiative of the thugs themselves.

Indianapolis has a trail, the Monon, that has one end in the liberal North side of town (more affluent) and runs south to the inner city along the old Monon railroad right-of-way.
People get 'jumped' there all the time.
We don't know WHAT we are going to DO about it...
Or bussing...
