MIAMI (Reuters) - For Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, Hurricane Irene and last week's earthquake in the eastern United States were a message from God that Washington needs to change its policies.
Even as Irene was beginning its raking course up the East Coast over the weekend, which killed 21 people and caused widespread flooding and power outages, Bachmann told senior citizens in Poinciana, Florida, on Saturday that the hurricane was an "act of God" that Washington should heed.
The Minnesota congresswoman, .. recalled Washington and the east had already felt a 5.8 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday.
"Washington, D.C., you'd think by now they'd get the message. An earthquake, a hurricane. Are you listening? The American people have done everything they can, and now it's time for an act of God and we're getting it," she said, drawing some laughs from her audience.

Who’s to say He did?
LOL, except this Hurricane bypassed the DC area headed to NYC unlike Isabel in 2003 that headed straight for the DC area, pretty funny though.

sorry about that, about that, about that.
It’s nothing but hearsay in any case.
Please don’t go their Bachmann. Don’t start pulling a Pat Robertson. The earth is dynamic, stuff like this happens.
But my tolerance for pol's dropping lines like that has gotten very low. At the hands of a comedian who knows what he's doing, fine, they could make a nice bit about it.

lol, I must say it was a good joke, and the audience obviously got it.
As for me, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if a big sucking hole didn’t open up underneath DC and pull the whole place in it. lol Ugh.
I haven’t been up there in a few years, but I’d be willing to bet the whole place literally reeks of the stench of body order generated by fear and corruption.
He’s been sending the same message for years...he just signs the message with a different name.
Smarmy media cheap shot bump.
That should be good for a ten point bump in the polls.
Reuters lives to publish stories like this.
Is Bachmann channeling her inner Pat Robertson?
I’m sure she was just joking around, but it was probably not the smartest thing in the world to say.
She just gave the LSM more ammo to use on her. I blame Ed Rollins.
With comments like this from would-be-leaders, it’s no wonder why Obozo was elected in 2008. Bachmann and the other members of the GOP who would supplant Obozo need to keep the focus on the presidential race.
