MYFOXNY.COM - A local news reporter from Washington, D.C. ended up getting covered in what is probably the remnants of raw sewage as he delivered live hurricane reports from Ocean City, Md.
WTTG-TV reporter Tucker Barnes was providing live updates for stations around the country as a wall of what he described as sea foam poured over him.
Barnes was on the boardwalk as Hurricane Irene hit the coast of Maryland
He noted that he had immersed himself in organic material. That "organic material" was most likely the effects of raw sewage pouring into the water during the storm.
"It doesn't taste great," he said.
He said it had a sandy consistency and added, "I can tell you first-hand, it doesn't smell great."

(Sorry, couldn't resist a joke. I'm going to go barf now.)
So tired of grandstanding weathermen posing in the middle of a driving rainstorm to add a little drama to what is basically a report on bad weather. Raw sewage might be a little too much, but it’s along the lines of what I’ve always wished when I see these reports.
Immediately after the blast, a soldier was interviewed: what did he think of the whole thing? "It wasn't too bad. The only part I didn't like was when all that sand flew straight into my mouth ..."
This is a small event compared to Katrina. Katrina is the worst hurricane in human history.......... if you judge it by MSM coverage and analysis.
I heard one of the drama-queen metrosexual Weather Channel reporters today on XM radio lamenting how people should NOT be outside during the hurricane, and that it upset him so much. The same thing he was doing, but I guess it’s ok if HE does it....
I sympathize. I dumped all tv based news when missing interns became 24/7 news to the exclusion of everything else. News from Ocean City MD about sewage seems like a step up from that.
What a shitty situation to find yourself in.
He should call his physician who may order a round of antibiotics. Being covered in sewer waste isn’t something to ignore since all kinds of diseases reside in sewers.
ratings whore
I can tell that this reporter is FRENCH... Mr. Dumas......
I can’t believe that guy stood out there in that stuff not knowing what it was. They kept saying nobody had ever seen anything like it before. Not a smart situation to put yourself in to say the least. This is what all this on site dramatic reporting leads to, bad decisions by reporters and their producers.
Will this reporter take a shower before he next goes to sleep?
Yeah, you can bet that the guys running around shirtless tossing a football ( as seen on TWC ) are smart enough to stay clear of that ... uh ... stuff.
Most likely, his ego will be more hurt than anything else. I hope and pray it’s nothing more. Whether this was sewage or something else, it’s not something you want to be ingesting and breathing in. And he just stood there refusing to come out of it until the end of his report.
WTTG [and ALL of the other local stations] have been broadcasting Irene non-stop since 6 am yesterday. Cancelled all network programming ...
Geez, you can ONLY say so much about a piddly CAT-1 hurricane ...
Breaking into programming as needed is one thing - but non stop ... Sheesh !!!
"I have had a lifetime fascination with hurricanes. And whenever the wind blows -- particularly when the wind blows strong -- I want to go."
--Dan Rather on Larry King Live, January 10, 2001.
I’m sick!
