We need to give our troops some of the real meat of Lieber & Stoller, in Jerry Lieber's memory . . .
Betty Jean Morris, "Shack Daddy" (Lieber & Stoller, writers)
Big Mama Thornton, "Hound Dog" (Lieber & Stoller, writers and producers)
The Drifters, "There Goes My Baby" (Lieber & Stoller, producers and uncredited co-writers)
The Robins, "Smokey Joe's Cafe" (Lieber & Stoller, writers and producers)
The Robins, "Framed" (Lieber & Stoller, writers and producers)
The Robins, "Riot in Cell Block Number 9" (Lieber & Stoller, writers and producers)
The Clovers, "Love Potion Number 9" (Lieber & Stoller, writers/producers)
The Drifters, "Save the Last Dance for Me" (Lieber & Stoller, producers)
Ben E. King, "Spanish Harlem" (Jerry Lieber, co-writer with Phil Spector/Lieber & Stoller, producers)
Ben E. King, "I (Who Have Nothing)" (Lieber & Stoller, co-writers/producers)
Jay & The Americans, "She Cried" (Lieber & Stoller, producers)
Jay & The Americans, "Come a Little Bit Closer" (Jerry Lieber, co-writer [uncredited] and possibly co-producer)
Peggy Lee, "Is That All There Is" (Lieber & Stoller, writers/producers)
RIP, Mr. Lieber . . .

One correction---Clyde McPhatter was long gone from the Drifters (in fact, so was the rest of the original group---their manager canned them and replaced them entirely) by the time they got a crack at "There Goes My Baby." The lead singer was a fellow named Benjamin Nelson (who co-wrote the song with the label-uncredited Lieber & Stoller), not yet known by his more famous stage name of Ben E. King . . . ;)

Thankee Sea. Amazing mixup, but my fault. Your story checks out. It’s so hard to give credit where credit is due after so many years. Thanks again. Good catch, especially while Publius is still awake.

Well, that one was easy---I'm still a huge fan of Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters (as they were billed on records, while he was in the original group) . . .

Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters, "Money Honey"
