Good news.

Yes, I know everyone is glad it is over.

On a lighter note. My family is from NYC and many are still there and on LI, but my dad now lives in Florida. When I spoke with him earlier today, after emailing him at 3am to tell him all was clear in this part of VA, he was telling me about an email from a cousin in Rockaway. Her email was along the lines of - gee thanks, you move to Florida and I get the hurricane!

That’s funny. I had a similar situation yrs ago. Tornadoes are a real rarity in upstate NY. We moved to St. Louis, then to Minneapolis, and every time there was a tornado watch or warning, we’d run outside to see if we could catch a glimpse. Never did. In the meantime, my brother calls me from upstate NY and says, “Hey! We had a tornado!” Go figure.

Glad you and family are okay. My nephew and his wife reported in earlier to my sister and they only had lights out.

Everything’s just fine here Dixie! have to replace a sheet from the metal roof on the barn, but that was the extent of the problems. Oh and my husband no has been fully reminded why he needs to put gutters on the one side of the house - he got up this morning to a couple of ceiling tiles on top of the coffee pot.

Worst part of the whole thing for me was we were supposed to have gone away for the weekend. Good thing we stayed home, from the pictures I’ve been looking at all day from friends back in Dover, they got it even worse than we did with the flooding.

Kind of late, but we just got back our electricity at 5 AM.

All my family made it out of the storm safely. Still waiting to hear how my sis in OC, NJ made out as far as her house is concerned.

BTW Dr. Who is a BBC series (I think one of the longest running shows in the UK.

Dr Who is the last of a race of time travelers who journeys around the universe helping folks out.

There has been (I think 11 different Dr's since its inception. The Doctor can regenerate so there is a continuity from one doctor to another.

Sure glad your water damage ended up being minor.

"So how did you do in your neck of the woods?"

Looking our the window, Hershey Park never closed and everything operated the entire week-end. A few downed trees from sporadic winds but no big deal here.

No way for Jose, but we'll take a week off and then re-convene on a new thread for Katia... heading for the east coast of the US again.

In the meantime, well done; rest well.

Thanks for remembering me. We all appreciate your weather threads so much.

The canal rose to within 15 inches of the wall at 5:00 am this morning. The marina manager said he was in contact with the canal authorities all night, and they assured him it would not go over the banks. The rain yesterday was steady all day but not intense, and there were only a couple of minor gusts of wind.

However, the trees and debris that floated past us did jam the canal a couple of miles down, and the water diverted to the Mohawk. It will be a few days before that is all cleared out.

We are still here for another day or so, as the New York State Thruway is closed in a couple of places between us and Massachusetts.

the evidence is in...the media blew this event way way way out of proportion..I am reading now that the precautionary measures are costing cities and states exponentially more than the storm damage....

The media coverage was just like you get from the local stations when one is coming in anywhere. Problem is the local media was in Washington, Philly,NY, and Boston.

“Wow, I’m starting to really freak out. I just looked outside and it is not just raining, but it is also windy.” It was not three seconds after posting this that the power to my house went out for the next thirty hours.
