It wasn’t an earthquake, that was Obama’s approval rating hitting an all time low!
Was in Surf City on Long Beach Island in New Jersey along the shore at the time. Funny, but just before, I noticed that dogs were barking which is something I never hear.
A friend of mine in Rhode Island felt it.
We in WI, did not.
~sarcasm on~
The fiends in DC better take note.
Actually shook our factory in Rutland, VT long enough for the owner to have everyone evacuate the building...weird...
WOW...felt from Toronto to Atlanta!!
“Behold, His mighty hand...”
PING.
Welcome to California.;)
Hey! Any earthquake tremors out by you?
We are fine. We were in a govt. building in D.C. They evacuated all of them. Cell phones were jammed. All the traffic lights were out. It took forever to get home. The weird thing was that the day was beautiful!! It mimicked 9/11. Clear ,cool and silvery. I thought it was a bomb going off somewhere in the metro area. Never thought it could be an earthquake!
Rumbled the house in Calvert County (south of Annapolis, SE of DC). Initial thought was that a contruction vehicle was nearby, then thought maybe a terrorist took out the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant.
As it turned out, the plant is online and running ok. DC subways are closed, Nats Park assessing damage before opening gates for tonights game against Arizona.
Traffic a nightmare up in DC from what I’m hearing.
It’s Virginia’s fault.
I live in MD and the one time an earthquake hits I miss it because we’re on the freeway in the mountains! We heard about it up there and thought “that’s odd, we never get earthquakes that strong here.” Then it occurred to me that nukes can cause earthquakes, so we turned on the radio and the first thing we hear is “evacuations in downtown DC,” and we’re going “oh crap” until we hear that it was actually a natural earthquake. We came home to discover stuff knocked off desks and bulletin boards and opened drawers (and freaked-out cats!). USGS says it may cause more quakes in the next few days too, and Hurricane Irene is supposed to hit the Chesapeake on Sunday, so it’s possible we might get an earthquake and a hurricane on the same day. Talk about the Perfect Storm...
Meanwhile, all of California must be laughing at us for our over-frenzied reaction to a tiny 5.9 quake.
Best tweet about the quake: As all of DC leaves work at the same time, the United States experiences a brief economic recovery
a friend in my town sent out a txt at 4:39 PM for us pray for the people in the hurricane and the earthquake
the hurricane i know about but what earthquake ???

DEid you check the graves of the Founding Fathers ???
They have got to be rolling a lot in the last 2 1/2 years...
Man alive — three business trips to Cali and no quakes, but back home in Delco we were shaking like crazy today. The reason I live here is because the ground is supposed to stay put. I never thought my first quake would be here.
