SarahPAC released the following statement:
Three years ago DC pundits predicted with glee the demise of Sarah Palin’s political career. This past weekend their tune changed, citing false information that she has made a decision and set a date regarding a future campaign. Any professional pundit claiming to have “inside information” regarding Governor Palin’s personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public. These are the same tired establishment political games that fuel the 24-hour news cycle and that all Americans will hopefully reject in 2012, and this is more of the “politics-as-usual” that Sarah Palin has fought against throughout her career.
PS – Kudos to CNN for setting the record straight and including Governor Palin’s own words.
Here is an excerpt from the CNN article by Peter Hamby referenced above:
Here she is, in her own words:
Q: When is a good time? Do you have a timeline?
Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but
Q: So by next month?
Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.
A few moments later, there was this exchange:
Q: Will you know by the next time you are here in Iowa whether you will be in, over Labor Day?
Palin: I doubt it. By the next time I am here by September 3? I don’t know if within the next couple of weeks I will be ready for an announcement or not.
Q: So the end of September is no longer a viable deadline?
Palin: No, he was asking about my next visit here on September 3, if I would be ready for an announcement September 3. And I said I don’t know if I would be ready by September 3.
Q: So the end of September would still be your timetable?
Palin: That is still a possibility for a timetable. Yes, definitely.
I do not believe this can occur unless we clear out the pond scum that deny us justice and redress.
Can pond scum be cleared out without simply hanging them?
“I didnt know Sarah Palin threads were open to only Palin for President supporters.”
I support Palin, but I agree with you. Every candidate’s or potential candidate’s threads have some comments that are perceived as negative. Your comments were quite snarky, but at least you didn’t post your usual Perry lovefest 10,000 word novel taking up all the oxygen in the room.
Do you still have that sweet big black dog that you posted pictures of romping in the deep snow? Those pictures were great.
As for me, I have practiced this for many years, going all the way back to 1964, and still do! In 2008, I sensed that Ms. Palin was indeed something special, a rare combination of common sense, innate ability, humility, and attractiveness that comes along perhaps once in every generation.
Rick Perry has some of that as well, but to my mind in a lesser degree. As such, he is near the top of my list, and will move up a notch if Sarah should decline to run.
It seems that most great presidents have been at least reluctant or hesitant to take on the awesome responsibility of leading the country.
By the same token, most of the poorest presidents seem to have lusted for it, and would use any means to gain and then hold onto the reins of power.
The situation that our country is in today is such that we cannot afford to turn over those reins to a second best. This is not a horse race where one can get a small payoff for place or show, there is only win or lose.
My money stays on the favorite in this race.
Game On!
A request to Sarah, May God help you to decide ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mtd6maV0TEU&feature=related
Perry threads should be about Perry and Sarah threads should be about Sarah. Its a simple concept, really.
She passed away almost 4 years ago. Miss her terribly. But I have two beautiful Belgian Sheepdogs just like her! Absolutely adore them!
Sarah would run to help our country, not because she wanted to be president. She has a full life without being president.

Darn I barely touched the post key and it did it twice.
That was EXCELLENT! Thank you!
Yeah, you’ve jumped in...good for you. ...as for me I am not so quick to jump in for algore’s former lackey. I will wait...too soon to pick any candidate. I am still evaluating them. We are more than a year out, and as Sarah said........there is still time...hopefully my dream candidate will get in and I can jump for joy like you.
I’m sorry, but glad you have the new dogs.
May I ditto your thoughts here and wholeheartedly concur.
Thanks
Maybe we need caucus threads for politicians, where people can talk about their own candidates without being attacked by other candidate supporters. The same rules could apply as for religion threads — participants could say all the good things they wanted about their candidate, but would not be allowed to attack other candidates in their caucus threads.
Short, sweet and uplifting! Thanks again! :)
Beautiful, and stirring prose, my friend. Timeless, and yet timely.
Those whose hearts are quickened by that message are standing strong, and awaiting the arrival of our captain. She is coming.
Imho, there’s a difference between a thoughtful criticism of a candidate and an attempt to use a thread regarding a candidate as a vehicle for recruitment.
