In its long slog through history, the Jewish caravan has acquired a lot of improbable and colorful camp followers, from Bulan, king of the Khazars, to Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. Lately, conservative commentator and former Fox News TV personality Glenn Beck has joined their ranks. This week, he's setting up his tent in the Holy Land for three televised Zionist rallies, dubbed Restoring Courage, in Jerusalem and the ancient Mediterranean port city of Caesarea. They are a sequel to the mass Restoring Honor rally at the Lincoln Memorial a year ago.
Beck is traveling with letters of commendation from Jewish leaders such as Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman; conservative Christians such as the Rev. John Hagee, the head of Christians United for Israel; and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a newly declared GOP presidential contender.
These wont be massive gatherings like the one in Washington last year, Beck told me in a telephone interview. (Crowd estimates for that event ranged from 80,000 to more than 300,000.) These will be ticketed events, specifically targeted at Christians around the world, via the Internet.
In our interview, Beck said that the tour would be attended by four presidential candidates, half a dozen to a dozen senators and about three dozen congressmen, although he declined to name any of the participants. A few days later, Josh Rafael, his spokesman, called to say that, in fact, Beck wasnt sure which high-ranking American politicians, if any, would be there. In any case, Beck doesnt plan to share the lectern. This is his forum and, perhaps, his chance to make a bid for leadership of the growing Christian Zionist movement in the United States and around the world. Leading that movement could mean leading conservative Christians in this country as a whole.

“I also think the Israelis are miles ahead of many of our political leaders when it comes to courage.”
I think that’s the point - while it’s partly meant to reinforce the Israelis’ courage by showing them what tremendous support they have from Americans (though not this president or his buddies), I believe the main purpose is to restore OUR courage - all the Americans and those of our leaders who feel affinity for Israel but may hesitate to take a stand or voice it publicly for fear of negative reactions or consequences, because this anti-semitic climate will get worse, at least for a time.
So, GB’s event is really as much a pep rally for right-minded America as it is for Israel. IMHO
“Mormon or Muslim,.......hmmmmmm, what a quandary.”
Quandary? As it relates to our survival and that of EVERY non-Muslim???
Then you should study the Koran and Muhammad’s commands regarding Infidels in more depth - and Twelvers like Ahmedinejad, whose mission (and he believes, his destiny) is to hasten the return of the Mahdi through a bloody world Caliphate.
No quandary there.
I am so jealous! Also, I am very happy for you!
Beck’s going to Israel is about the rest of us to support and stand up for Israel, which is receiving increased pressure and hostility, even from the US. It is WE who need courage and to remember the price Israel pays for its very existence.
It was a joke!
I'm still ticked off at Beck for dumping his highly successful - and easily accessible - Fox News show. Now I've had to bone up on how to watch his stupid internet TV show via our television, Roku, etc. And we have to pay extra for the privilege of the inconvenience of watching his show via the internet, both for the equipment and for the subscription to Glenn Beck TV.
Glenn has left so many huge Beck fans like my elderly in-laws scratching their heads at his decision to leave Fox News. They're kind of lost with their daily dose of Glenn at 5pm... they really miss his TV show, as do I.
So... to answer the question at the top of this thread... I have no idea what Beck is doing lately... he's invisible to me these days.
Same here. Please read my post 66 on this thread if you get a chance.
Fingers crossed that Glenn will come back to his senses and return to regular TV, ie Fox News Channel...
Leading that movement could mean leading conservative Christians in this country as a whole.

Why would a Mormon be the leader of Christians ???
I’m not sure that’s an appropriate theme. Considering the physical environment in which the Israelis live, there doesn’t appear to be a lack of courage...thus no need to “restore” courage.

Yeah its like taking coals to Newcastle
Chunky? When was the last time you saw her? She looks like a skeleton with skin. In the latest pictures I saw of her, she looks deathly ill.

No they are not
Mormons are required to say the Bible is wrong and the only book "right" is the book of mormon...
"the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." (Joseph Smith, Founder of Mormonism, History of the Church, vol. 4, page 461)
If they believed the Bible they wouldnt be mormons
They would be Christians...
Haven’t seen her in months and months, but when I did she looked like she should stop wearing those form-fitting outfits, and spend some time at a gym. Either way, though, she shouldn’t be flaunting it, ‘cause she hasn’t got it anymore, and ought to face that reality. It’s a perfectly natural thing, that most women accept with grace and a change of wardrobe.
The last pics I saw of her made the skinny heroin chic models look plump. She looked like she was doing heavy amounts of drugs. I* was sure if she had smiled her teeth would have revealed meth mouth.
Maybe the chunky pics led to a an overreaction and severe diet on her part.
The pity is, I would like her. She’s a celeb who’s standing up for Israel. I resent the Kaballah Center for milking her, and I love all her early songs. She’s still got a great voice, I’m sure. But please, Madonna. Wear something less revealing. Those that saw you back when can still wank off to the same pictures. Those that see you now don’t want to. Age gracefully.
My apologies - I thought you were serious! (A lot of people really DO think they’re both equally bad, which is scary.)
He could convert and then become Messianic
whatever
This newfound obsession some Christians today have for Judaism and Israel is at a much higher level than it ever was 40 years ago....when I was a boy it was nonexistent
Back then we worried about Israel's safety..had mixed feelings towards Jews ..especially here since they mostly were not on the same side culturally
but now it's almost like some newish type Christians almost covet being Jewish...have fun but I'll pass...I think it misses the point.
IF you are Christian then Judaism is gonna occupy a strange spot relationship wise..a certain familiarity but at the same time a sharp contrast.. You either accept Christ or you don't...and they do not...it is their choice..I hope all goes well for them...I really do...but ecumenism doesn't extend beyond Christianity
just a sign of the times...were I a Jew with Christians bowing at my feet...I'd watch my back if you know what I mean
Glenn Beck has proven himself so full of holes in his "teachings" that it's gotten to be too much..he is loose with the historical fact when it suits him..time and again.
I know some here adore him and I like some of ya'll but I got off the Beck train a few platforms back
“one tenet is that beings from other space came to earth”
I’m a Mormon and haven’t a clue what the heck you are talking about. The crazy things people believe about Mormons. Wow!
P.S. I will not respond to the anti Mormons who will jump at the opportunity to trash my faith and my church. Jesus Christ is my Savior, Redeemer and Soon Coming King. Amen.
