In its long slog through history, the Jewish caravan has acquired a lot of improbable and colorful camp followers, from Bulan, king of the Khazars, to Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. Lately, conservative commentator and former Fox News TV personality Glenn Beck has joined their ranks. This week, he's setting up his tent in the Holy Land for three televised Zionist rallies, dubbed Restoring Courage, in Jerusalem and the ancient Mediterranean port city of Caesarea. They are a sequel to the mass Restoring Honor rally at the Lincoln Memorial a year ago.
Beck is traveling with letters of commendation from Jewish leaders such as Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman; conservative Christians such as the Rev. John Hagee, the head of Christians United for Israel; and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a newly declared GOP presidential contender.
These wont be massive gatherings like the one in Washington last year, Beck told me in a telephone interview. (Crowd estimates for that event ranged from 80,000 to more than 300,000.) These will be ticketed events, specifically targeted at Christians around the world, via the Internet.
In our interview, Beck said that the tour would be attended by four presidential candidates, half a dozen to a dozen senators and about three dozen congressmen, although he declined to name any of the participants. A few days later, Josh Rafael, his spokesman, called to say that, in fact, Beck wasnt sure which high-ranking American politicians, if any, would be there. In any case, Beck doesnt plan to share the lectern. This is his forum and, perhaps, his chance to make a bid for leadership of the growing Christian Zionist movement in the United States and around the world. Leading that movement could mean leading conservative Christians in this country as a whole.

Because he’s rich and doesn’t have a 9-5 day job or a house full of children needing his supervision. I’d go to Israel, too, if I could, although probably at a more pleasant time of year.
You are grossly misinformed.
dubbed Restoring CourageGlenn Beck has said what you just said many times, you just haven't listened. This is not about restoring Israel's courage, it's about restoring
I'm not sure that's an appropriate theme. Considering the physical environment in which the Israelis live, there doesn't appear to be a lack of courage...thus no need to "restore" courage.
I also think the Israelis are miles ahead of many of our political leaders when it comes to courage.
I heard, on Beck’s radio show, that Republican members of the House were ordered not to attend Beck’s event in Israel, by John Boehner. Boehner told them that it would be a conflict of interest. No one knew what that meant or whose interests were being conflicted.
I have no idea what you mean by that.
If you listened to Beck’s show you would know that Restoring Courage is about restoring OUR courage and the courage of THE REST OF THE WORLD to stand up for Israel and goodness. He clearly stated numerous times that Israelis live a life of courage every single day.
[ I have no idea what you mean by that. ]
Genn Mentioned today that Iran is not pleased about Glenn’s Israel Rallies.
I pray for Glenn’s safety at these events, I can see Iran doing everthing within it’s power to stop Glenn on this and I think Glenn knows it.
You know, I actually tried to read it, but after the 47th “It came to pass” I just gave up. Honestly, folks need to get thier texts into modern English.
And...if you'd read the complete thread before jumping straight into a castigating reponse to my first comment...you'd realize I'd already been straightened out by a few others in this thread...
...and I'd gracefully accepted said "straightening out" and even thanked said "straightener-outters". See comment #37.
I like Matthew 1 best.
“Chafetz wrote a decent book recently so I’m kind of surprised at the somewhat snarfy tone of this column.”
Yeah was thinking the same thing. He wrote a semi-authorized biography of Rush Limbaugh.
...pals around with a laughably clueless bigot like Hagee ....No "pot: kettle: black" there.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Nawwww....Really????
Tell me you made that up...lol...
It might be because her figure is way too chunky and “mature” for the riske outfits and slutty behavior. If she’d dress and act more modestly, she’d be more bankable and get more respect.
Well, his nut job religious speak pretty much matches up with what I read in the Bible end times. The prophesies come from a vision from God and I don't think there is a plan "B". I've studied Eschatology for years and find Beck pretty much right on. If you look it up, you will find many people agree with Beck and I on what to watch for. Beck is just calling your attention to what to look for if the Bible is true. I believe the Bible. It has proven to be reliable for me. I know that having a discussion about the "End Times" on FR would be futile, but I wanted to find out for myself, so I looked into it. Just because you disagree with Beck and Mormonism doesn't make him wrong. Now, if the discussion was on Mormonism, you and I would probably agree and Beck is the kook.
The thing that gets me exorcised about people bad mouthing Beck is they say stuff they can't back up. His religious speak is non existent IMHO. I even DVR'd his shows and listened to almost every one. I never caught any religious speak. He would have lost audience immediately if he started to say things that most Americans found inconsistent with history. Most Christians today couldn't answer an elementary quiz on the Bible and history. They are so full of wives tales and fables they don't even know what the Bible says. They have grown up with some sort of CNN version of Christianity and they think Jesus was a communist homosexual that did abortions.
BTW, I would never vote for Romney unless he gets the nomination,........which he won't. Mormon or Muslim,.......hmmmmmm, what a quandary.
Actually, that is about right. In Hebrew, it is קֵיסָרְיָה; Ki-sar-iah.

“Chafetz wrote a decent book recently so I’m kind of surprised at the somewhat snarfy tone of this column.
Or am I just being too sensitive?”
If you are, TE, that makes two of us. I was really confused about where he stood on both Glenn and the event in general, when reading this article. Toward the end, it seemed a little friendlier, but I’m still not sure.
Isn’t the term Zionist (which he used in various forms rather often) a derogatory one?
One thing really popped out at me, that he didn’t comment on - all the polling stats on the amount of support (both monetary and ideological) for Israel from Republicans and evangelical Christians just begs the question: shouldn’t more American Jews seriously consider switching their political affiliation, at least in 2012???
It’s just crazy. Do they think they’re untouchable because they live over here? They’d better think again - at least as long as we’re all under the Muslim in Chief’s rule.
