If the Republican Presidential race were a poker game, you could say that Palin, the underdog has remained in late position long enough to see the full ring, to expose the live ones. Shes learned their tells, and shes seen some bust, but now its time for her to go all in with what looks to be a royal flush.
If youre not a poker player, you may need a poker dictionary to decipher my analogy. And they think she doesnt know how the game of politics is played. The good old boys just never realized that she wasnt playing by their rules.
If, or rather when, Sarah Palin announces her candidacy for President; Republican polls will likely shift in her favor.
[...]
Its looking more and more these days as if Sarah Palin will announce her run for the White House in short order. If you keep up with Palins history, you may come to the conclusion that there is no accident in her decision to go to Iowa September 3rd for what many believe will be her big announcement. September 3, 2011 is three years, to the day, that Sarah Palin accepted the nomination for Vice President and gave her famously rousing speech during the Republican National Convention.
[..]
72% of likely Republican voters say when casting their primary vote, they favor a candidate who shares their views over one who has a better chance of winning.
That turns the notion of people agreeing with Sarah Palin, but dont think she can win from a negative, into a potential strength. They are going to vote for her regardless, thus, breaking the mold of the typical voter.

It was then that Rush made that comment to her. Rush did not specifically direct the comment to Palin, but rather any candidates who have not yet announced.
Really, how is it you can’t be a conservative and an independent? What if you can’t support the Republican party as it is right now and prefer not to be registered as one? What if you think yourself more conservative and can’t support a party that no longer shares your values? Independent can mean those squishy middle types, sure, but it doesn’t have to. I’m a registered Republican, I’d like the party to return to it’s conservative roots and think the best way to do is change it from within. Others don’t. Nothing wrong with that.

Sorry, this doesn't cut it. People were not necessarily taking free tickets from those they voted for and besides you could get a free ticket from at least one group because they called my home and asked me if I wanted a free ticket.
Besides, wouldn't you think the Palin supporters should have been willing to pay for their own ticket to support Palin?
What I'm telling you is that I don't think there is the kind of support for Palin many believe there is. Polling is not kind to Palin.
LOL. Well, fortunately you are free to support your candidate, Governor Perry, and I am free to support mine, Governor Sarah Palin!
I am not ready or willing right now to support or risk supporting your candidate who looks to me to be no better or worse than GHWB or GWB, and I think his biggest hurdle will be trying to convince the electorate at large that they’re ready for another governor from Texas who mirrors GWB just 4 short years after President Bush!
That seems to me like a huge hurdle to overcome and one that obama and the democrats will be dying to run against!
GO SARAH, GO TEA PARTY!
LOL. I know, and I give up on the Ames Iowa Straw Poll.
We know it’s a FUND RAISER!
Let’s see how the Iowa Caucuses shake out. I think they’re a little different, but not certain...lol.
It seems any herring will do with some people. Ive watched their points be refuted over and over yet they continue to use them.
That's quite a charge!
the Ames Straw Poll is nothing but a joke...a diversion to help get bored journalists through the dog days of summer.
It's a fundraiser, designed to be a bit of fun. It's not a serious referendum.
Well, when that’s all ya have.... and BTW, Michele Bachmann won the Straw Poll by 152 votes followed by Ron Paul.
How are they doing? All I hear is how Sarah Palin didn’t win and by golly, she wasn’t even on the ballot!!!
I hope it comes down to high poll numbers for Palin and a stern message from her to the media: “The more you lie about me, the less access you and your affiliated networks will have to the White House when I am sworn in.”
~~~~~~~~
LOL .. well, she really can’t prudently, professionally or politically say that, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be giving them the marginal or even back-of-the-hand treatment they’ve certainly taught her they deserve and she’s giving them now.
I thought his answer was tongue-in-cheek. He’s talked quite a bit (even last week) about the dynamics should Palin enter. Not once has he said “she should be in by now”. Rush is too politically savvy to believe there’s only one way to win. Considering his own unconventional rise to the top, he knows better.
I believe the evidence shows a different picture. My position is not so much pro-Perry as anti-Obama. We MUST put up our toughest candidate to defeat Obama.
Easy....in order to vote int he ST, you had to make a $35 donation to the Iowa Republican Party..it’s their BIG annual fund raiser..ALL of the candidates BOUGHT tickets, and gave them out to their supporters...Palin wasn’t doing that, so her base is far to smart to waste their $$$..better off sending the $35 to her..
Hiya STAR! She’s been mighty nice to selected members of the “news media”! LOL. Let’s see where that gets her!
Besides, with all this pent up demand for Palin, they should have been there to support her.
“As much as she is beloved around here, the MSM has made her such a caricature of herself that she will never, ever be able to get past the first few primaries.”
I remember that VIVIDLY with Reagan...as he was a reactionary, about to blow up the world (and just an actor, to boot). Luckily, we didn’t listen to them and nominated him anyway.
We differ immensely on Governor Perry’s “evidence” as you call it, but we’re on the same page with regard to anti-Obama and fielding the strongest TEA PARTY CONSERVATIVE candidate which is why we have Marathon Primaries.
Your dog hunts! We have members here who were in attendance and know the score precisely!
Dear Conservativegreatgrandma is beating a dead horse to 1000 deaths!
Some years back I knew several of his descendants in Edgefield County SC, and Nathan Bedfford is still a revered hero there.
My wife and I are registered AZ indies. After mccain hijacked the gop primary here and compelled the party to maintain an open primary when he ran against JD Hayworth, we felt it was the last betrayal for us. We can request a ballot for any party in the election with no penalty. The AZ GOP has lost at least until they lose mccain and close their primaries.
I don't know who made the original comment of "can't be both". What's to say indies are not right of the GOP? In fact, wouldn't it be to our benefit to move Indies that way? It'd be a hell of a suprise one morning early November 2012, yes? Hell, yeah...
Well, that settles it then! Let's only vote for whomever the polls suggest...boy, what load off! Now I don't have to think for myself! Whew!
