Texas Governor Rick Perry, the latest GOP candidate to enter the 2012 presidential race, looks to challenge former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s status as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination.

I've got news for the author. Romney isn't the frontrunner, Perry is.

I hope that Perry points out, before the demagoguery, that the Food Stamp Program and other subsidies is so full of fraud that cost the truly in need.

Seriously?
That’s good news. When did Perry pull ahead? Even Rush is saying Mitt is the frontrunner as of last week or so.

“Most Americans do not yearn to be dependent on government subsidies, they want economic freedom, and economic freedom comes from work and wages, not welfare,” Perry argued. /

He said it all right there!

I would remind Vilsack that a job with benefits would be a far better direct stimulus to the economy than a taxpayer handout. This administration’s willing support of an entitlement society is dangerous and irresponsible.

I’d like to see Perry require all able body folks on assistance like Welfare work. IF they receive Welfare you have to work for the state you live in. They can do whatever needs to be done like: picking trash up off the highways; dig ditches; clean public toilets; clean roadside toilets etc. IF they receive welfare the state will make them productive citizens by working for their welfare. No More free lunches...as the scripture teaches if you don’t work you don’t eat.

Perry’s going to be slapped down with that statement. Texas has a huge welfare program. I used to share an office with the welfare office and their secretary quit after figuring out that welfare clients took home more than she did in her state of Texas paycheck. Also, how many illegals is Texas funding with welfare? Throw in all the “free” school breakfasts and lunches and yes, Garadsil is being given for “free” by public school nurses. How many illegals are on the Texas welfare lists? How about those same illegals paying in-state college tuition? Sorry, Perry, but look in the mirror, you can’t play holier than thou on this topic. Typical Perry campaign talk.

Just like Romney.

He'll say anything he thinks you want him to say, be anything you want him to be.

Useless blather. It would be newsworthy if he were to tackle the entitlements crisis. Tell me Gov. Perry - are you going to cut Medicare / Medicaid / SS benefits, raise taxes to pay for benefits or a combo of the two?

That headline is a lie. Perry *did not* “slam food stamps”. Instead he “slammed” the Obama apparatchik who said that “food stamps stimulate the economy.”

This is NOT a subtle difference, so it is pretty obvious that whoever wrote the headline did so to attack Perry.

That being said, supporting food stamps right now is essential to Republican victory, as people who rely on food stamps, more and more that are middle class unemployed, MUST have food stamps if they want to eat.

Mind you, they WANT employment, but there is no employment, so they are pretty desperate. And anyone who even talks about cutting food stamps right now they must think of as their enemy. They have no choice. Vote for whoever keeps giving food stamps or starve.

That is not a good choice, because they would vote for the devil himself, if it would keep food on their table.

So no matter what any of us philosophically think about the wisdom of food stamps, for heaven’s sake, DO NOT encourage ANY Republican candidate or office holder to talk about cutting them back AT ALL.

Once unemployment is back down to 3-5%, then maybe. BUT NOT NOW.

"During his presidential announcement, Perry said “we cannot afford four more years of this rudderless leadership.” Perry also added that “page one of any economic plan to get America working is to give a pink slip to the current resident in the White House.”

This is strategically politically dumb. This means we have to wait until January 20, 2013 before we can expect economic improvements. Like I said, politically dumb.

I have an idea, the House GOP, the Senate GOP and the GOP Presidential candidates should get together and put together bills for turning the economy around. The House GOP would then place the bills and the pressure would then be on the Democrat Party as a whole, Senate Democrats specifically and Obama in particular. They would then be seen to stand in the way of economic growth.

Here's some ideas to include: Energy Freedom Act - unleash our American companies to produce energy from our American natural resources. End the Gulfatorium, release ANWAR, release Fracking, bind the idiotic regulations from the EPA.

Labor Freedom Bill - prevent the National Labor Relations Board from first and foremost stopping Boeing's plan to build planes in South Carolina, and reverse all kinds of labor regs.

Economic Freedom Act - reverse all kinds of regulations coming out of the Obama Administration.

Cost of Taxation Act - reduce to cost of compliance with tax laws through radical simplication. Eliminate tens of thousands of IRS jobs, including the 16,000 intended to be added for ObamaCare.

Health Freedom Act - Allow health insurance purchases across state lines, eliminate regulations that prevent MSA and crowd out individual insurance plans.

The political strategy bottom line for an opposition political party ought to be: We can wait any longer! I'm sure people have better ideas than I do for immediate incentives for economic growth (zero tax rate on repatriated profits). The plan ought to be to start now. The House GOP could put something out before Obama comes out with his stupid plan. Or get the whole gang together and come out with a response to the Obama "Grow Government Bigger" Plan.

This is what Boehner ought to have been doing. The GOP needs to show people what across the board GOP governance will be like with GOP control of the House, Senate and White House. They're sitting around expecting people to simply vote against Obama. The GOP are the Stupid Party, they earned that moniker.

WE CAN'T WAIT!!

1) Personal computer running database software.
2) Make every state dump the social security numbers attached to every food stamp, AFDC, welfare, etc. beneficiary.
3) Dump all the Social security numbers in to the database.
4) Where more than one social security numbers is used in more than one state suspend all benefits for that number.
5) Sit and wait for crooks to show up and complain. If they have ripped off the system make them pay the money back by stripping them of their assets. Cars, TV’s, etc.

One of the focal points of Perry’s presidential campaign is the longest serving Texas Governor’s record on job creation. Forty percent of the nation’s new jobs have been created in the Lone Star State since June 2009.

I wonder how many of the jobs "created" in Texas just represent the movement of jobs and companies from other states.

Perry’s not my guy, but that’s not slamming food stamps—that’s slamming poverty and unemployment in the Obama economy.

Perry's fithcal conthervatism(tm) isn't going to undo this:

[La Raza]Violence in Denver

The success of the alternative school and Gonzales' political achievements were overshadowed in 1973, when a man was arrested for jaywalking in front of the Crusade's headquarters.[20] A protest against the persecution was organized, leading to confrontations between demonstrators and police. Soon, a gun battle erupted, and a bomb exploded in the upper floors of the Downing Terrace apartments, which were in the possession of the Crusade.[21] One man was killed and seventeen were injured, among them 12 police officers. Gonzales accused the Denver police department of grenading the facilities, but a detective described the scene of the explosion as a "veritable arsenal".[22] Historians and scholars have yet to evaluate the impact of the bombing, but later prosecutions of Crusade participants served to diminish the influence of Gonzales and his organizations.

After this incident, Gonzales retreated into the private life of his family and Denver's Chicano community. He was still active in the movement, although he maintained a much lower profile.[23]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodolfo_Gonzales

"Ooops"

There's no evidence at all that La Raza's organizationally violent and racist spots have changed since then -- and if that's the crowd Perry is pandering to, then:

NO SALE.

Thanks for coming in Rick.  Have a nice day.

Next applicant please?

When, during his term as Governor of Texas or before that, did Perry “slam” “Food Stamps, Government Subsidies”.

These are nice sound bites, but, in Perry’s political history are they new and is that all they are - sound bites to attract a needed group of voters.
