Uggggghhhh. They are why I removed those damned nite-lites.

But there are still their shreiks and voices to deal with; playing heavy-metal at 90 db all night masks most of it.

“I’ve heard many liberals switching to RP. It’s not much of a philosophical leap. Libertarianism is NOT Conservatism.”

You can bet RP has supporters running a booth again at this weekends Seattle Hempfest. And not one Lefty will be giving them a hard time. In fact they will welcome the booth, and treat the people as allies. Can you imagine though, if this was a booth for Bachmann, Perry, Palin, or any of the other Republican you could name? They would have to call in the Seattle PD to rescue them.

Ron Paul booth at Hempfest in Seattle (2010)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG0VLnTOzNw

During the 2008 election we drove through Seattle most Liberal area on our way to a Husky football game. It was not Obama yard signs we were seeing everywhere. RP yards signs were everywhere. Even bumper stickers plastered on telephone polls.

I’ve seen the same thing.. it points to a philosophy not grounded in the Constitution. Instead, it’s a hodge podge of arrested psychological development which liberals find easy to attach their marxism.

I am a conservative/ libertarian.
For me the distinction is that I am a conservative without the traditional nanny state propensities.
I oppose gun control, drug control, and want to eliminate 90% of the government. Cut every department and agency that is not carrying out a Constitutionally enumerated power.
Life (at all stages) should be protected by the 14th Amendment, and marriage should be limited to one man and one woman through Constitutional Amendment. At a minimum states should not be required to recognize any other kind of “marriage”.
I would like to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments, prohibition, and deregulate the energy industry.
Then amend the Constitution to impose term limits-one 6 year term (starting with the next president in 2013)- two four year terms in the Senate, and four two year terms in the House.
Also return commerce clause jurisprudence to what it was in 1900.
That would be a good start to restoring freedom and liberty.

Basically, they are creating a false myth he is being ignored to drive more attention to him. He has been getting as much attention, if not far more, than many of the other candidates. At that, from what I’ve seen, it seems the media has been paying far more attention to Paul this go around, trying to paint the entire GOP with his kook brush.

It’s not because he’s nuts. It’s because they know he won’t win. They offer no more coverage to Cain or Santorum.

The media highlights him in the debates because he makes Republicans look like that crack-pot who slipped the leash at the nursing home and has been found down at the street corner in his bathrobe ranting at strangers.

If there was a viable candidate who would take up some of the legitimate conservative goals that Ron Paul champions... such as auditing the Federal Reserve... he would capture Ron Paul's conservative faction.

The Republican Party created Ron Paul through the law of unintended consequences. If the GOP would simply pursue their stated agenda, advance the platform of ideas that attracts their grassroots membership, Ron Paul would disappear as an irrelevant footnote. We wouldn't be discussing him here on FR.

That’s music to my ears but I’m in no way a Libertarian. The principals rooted in the Constitution are enough for me.

Basically, they are creating a false myth he is being ignored to drive more attention to him.

Just so. The media did NOT ignore him. They paid roughly equal attention to him and to Bachman with this particular story. Just about every headline I saw said Bachman barely won and Ron Paul was a close second. When the results of the CPAC straw poll came out, the media went berserk over Ron Paul. And in both these events, they ignored the fact that Paul bussed in almost all his votes. They would love him to win the nomination, because it would ensure a Democrat victory in November. They always prefer a weak Republican candidate if they can get one.

Trying to keep him from examination until the old media and the Democrats launch him as a fiscal conservative/country club friendly third party candidate to split the Republican vote and give us four more years of Democrats.

... I think such observations totally miss the point.

The media is picking our candidate. They cover who they want to cover. They ignore the people they don't like (and it's not just Ron Paul) and they spin what people say.

Ron Paul is the canary in the coalmine. He may be a crazy guy, but he is also a poster child for how the MSM is controlling the re-election of the Political Establishment so that this country can keep on doing what it's been doing.

This is an excellent point. It is precisely why the republican political elite have been allowed to sidle further and further to the left using the mantra of 'lessor of two evils'.

It shows just how effective and how insidious cultural marxism has been.

Related point" I recently heard a radio interview with British historian Hugh Thomas. He must be in his 80s now. He said that when his first book came out, he was considered a "left-wing historian" and now with his recent books he is considered a "right-wing historian". He said that he felt that his views had not changed at all.

The lesson then is that society has shifted very far to the Left. The leftists of the 1940s are now the right-wing extremists of today. And the left-wing extremists of today? Waaaaaay over into crazy land -- but the media calls them "moderates".

I win the debate.

Liberty, liberty, constitution, straw poll, straw poll, money bomb, money bomb, liberty. If you don't support Ron Paul, you are a lizard person. Liberty. Globalist, globalist, globalist, globalist, globalist. I win the debate.
