Y2K has three characters
911 has three characters
Elenin has six characters which is twice 3
three, threes is 9
Elenin has a l and a 1 in it,
9/l1
and that spells M-O-O-N
Coincidence?
Blue or the comet? ;-)
Blue, of course!
Silly troll! ;)
;-p
Wrong.
In every two body system there will always be an alignment, just draw a line from body one to body two.
You need THREE bodies to create any so called alignment.
He refused to describe what the supposed alignments were.
You also realize that the poster you are addressing believes there is a global conspiracy that includes every amateur astronomer in the world.
He also firmly believes that Mr. Elenin does not exist which is news to Mr. Elenin.
Trust me, if Comet Elenin could not disturb or disrupt a small asteroid at .002 AU, there is no way it can effect us in any fashion.
"If it was as INSIGNIFICANT as they say, why did they do this?"
"If the ONLY object in question was a Comet, why the paper from Mensur? Why did he include Comet Elenin AT ALL? He doesnt go so far as to say the comet itself has a large mass, but the implication of large mass is definitely there."
Liar.
"The Elenin will continue intensifying the Earths very strong seismicity until August-October, 2011. Approximate forecast of earthquakes based on my discoveries is feasible. This demonstration proves my hyperresonator concept, arrived at earlier as a mathematical-physical solution to the most general extension of the georesonator concept possible."
Sounds like a disruption to me, but go on.
"So, Mensur IS talking about it possibly being involved in causing BIG earthquakes, definitely."
Funny, that is saying the comet is disrupting Earth, which is horse crap.
Comet Elenin failed to disrupt, disturb, or otherwise influence Asteroid 74732 a.k.a. 1999 RQ176 while at a distance of .002 AU.
Keeping that in mind, how can you claim that it is causing earthquakes or disturbing Earth in any fashion?
My car has a greater effect on tidal forces on Earth than that comet does.
You've basically quoted the Pluto hoax in miniature.
That is why he got the zot.
That is why he got the zot.
What really gets me is that people fall for it.
I mean, really.
It is the Pluto hoax all over again.
And you guys and gals have to read this stuff with a straight face while moderating! [or at least I’m assuming you have to.]
If you ever need to take a break, I know of this thread where you can kick back and crack pop culture reference jokes....
For those reading along, the Pluto hoax went something like this: An alignment of the outer planets and pluto would reduce gravity here on Earth by a tiny fraction that we supposedly could feel by going outside and jumping at some specific time.
Only in this instance they are stating we’ll feel the alignment by way of earthquakes, and the names of the objects supposedly in alignment are changed.
Does this mean I’ll have to take the truck in and
have the steering checked??
;)
Probably a good idea to do so.
Unless you’d like to do what my brother did: Ended up holding onto the steering wheel while the vehicle tossed the steering column off, launched one entire strut assembly, and rolled through a fence.
My brother was impressed, he’d never seen complete disconnection of a steering column before.
The ambulance crew had to tell him to leave said steering wheel and column at the scene, that he couldn’t ponder it during the ride.
Okay, so that’s worse case.
Most probable: You chew up expensive tires quickly or have one wheel turn and the other one says, “Nope!”
;-)
Arguing facts, common sense or anything resembling an honest questioning of reality, is met with nasty comments and mob tactics.
Since the Japan earthquakes haven't continued unabated (surprise, surprise) the next "logical" EOTW scenario (until Dec. 21, 2012) is a passing comet, dark star or alien invasion.
So stay tuned - and look for incoming posts of exactly what I just described . . .
I know, they always find some new better “We’re all gonna die” thing to be afraid of next.
After I hit the lottery tomorrow morning; I will be cleaning out all the Kahlua and Pusser’s Rum from my local liquor store. Then we'll go from there...
How’s that working out for you so far, FRiend? ;-)
That was true.
Since I am currently quite sober; I guess it didn’t work out very well at all. :-(
Th-th-th-th-the-That’s all folks! :’)
I am glad that the nastiness stopped and that you have been arguing with points and not being nasty like others were.
Looney Toons? Perhaps. Maybe just a disruptor troll.
Okay... the Pluto Hoax thing, also known as the Jovian Plutonian Gravitational Effect, was an April Fools prank done in 1976 on BBC radio by Patrick Moore.
Basic premise of the hoax was that an alignment with Jupiter and Pluto would reduce gravity here on Earth at 9:47 PM or so on that date [April 1].
Well, people fell for it.
No sooner did 9:47 roll around than the Beeb got calls from people swearing they felt the effect.
Oddly, there are people who actually believe it still.
Hence this belief that a tiny comet is causing earthquakes.
Now, Comet Elenin has passed at least four asteroids in the asteroid belt without doing anything to them.
Matter of fact.. here they are:
- February 28 with the asteroid 1999 TV67 at a distance of 1,774,707 KM [0.012 AU]
- April 7 with the asteroid 4336 Jasniewicz, at a distance of 1,119,713 KM [0.008 AU]
- April 19 with asteroid 2009 TJ9, at a distance of 325,428 KM [0.002 AU]
- May 20 with asteroid 1999 RQ176, at a distance of 338,403 KM [0.002 AU]
None were disturbed in any fashion by Elenin.
This is important because of the claims that the comet is causing stuff here.
[Some have claimed a shift in the poles of three degrees.. without proof of such.]
Now to get to the real root of all of this, we’d have ot go back to Hale-Bopp and the hysteria some groups had over it.
