(NewsCore) - COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Minnesota congresswoman and 2012 presidential candidate Michele Bachmann left some listeners scratching their heads Thursday when she said during a radio show interview that the US was in danger of being eclipsed by the Soviet Union.
Bachmann made the remark during an appearance on the Jay Sekulow radio show while campaigning in South Carolina.
"It really is about jobs and the economy," Bachmann said when asked what was on the minds of American voters she met on the trail.
"But what people recognize is that there's a fear that the United States is in an unstoppable decline. They see the rise of China, the rise of India, the rise of the Soviet Union and our loss militarily going forward."
The Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 at the end of the Cold War.

For some reason she forgot to mention the rise of the Ottoman Empire.
To: Bigtigermike
At least she didn’t say she was worried about the Soviet Union invading Czechoslovakia.

The woman is missing parts in the attic, something that should be obvious to any casual observer. I’m a bit baffled how it came to pass that she is considered a serious Presidential contender. I can only imagine it is due to the gaping void where actual leadership on the right should be. We’ve been without credible leadership for so long that people don’t even know what to look for anymore.

Since there is a nightly news blackout about life in Russia you might be interested to know that there has been an Orthodox priest assigned to each and every military unit.
The regime in D.C. has committed billions to new mosque construction around the globe, the encouragement of 'Arab Springs' and Islamic expansion.
Russia has seen enough misery to know trouble when it appears. We are becoming the source of world instability - economically, and culturally. If things get worse - it would be in Russia's interests to do something to stop it.

I was really trying to hang on...dont think I can anymore. I'm thru with her. I don't know if it's the drugs she takes or she is just not up to the job, but I do know that Obammy would shred her in a debate w/o the royal teleprompter. I wanted to believe but it's Perry all the way for me now.

Big deal. I still equate the USSR with Russia and sometimes call it the USSR.

Anybody here think that when Putin returns to power in a few months, he won’t attempt to reconstitute the Soviet Union?

Anybody here think that when Putin returns to power in a few months, he wont attempt to reconstitute the Soviet Union? Putin hated the Soviet Union's domestic policies, but appreciated her role on the international stage. But he's no Communist.

I got to be honest with myself and others. Palin is no different than Bachmann, a light weight. They are female Sean Hannitys. They just spew out talking points. Sometimes I feel they do not even know or understand what they are saying. Its a two person race, Perry and Romney. All the others are just filler.
In order to win in 2012, we have to be honest with ourselves. We cannot afford to lose this one because we are delusional about our candidates. Too many of us have a tendency to stick our heads in the sand and deny the obvious. For example, Christine O'Donnell was a terrible candidate for the office of Senator. An office held by Daniel Webster and Henry Clay. Till this day people still think she was terrific. It is like believing Mario Mendoza belongs in the Hall of Fame. Our country needs our A team on the field, not our scrubs. This is not a time for amateurs.
