So despite the protest of many right here on FR there does actually seem to be a contingent (Given it is a small contingent, but it is clearly a growing one)of Jack Booted Thugs masquerading as dedicated LEO's in America.

I hope they win so big that they have to rename Pima County Guerena County.
The Sheriff shouldn’t be fired, he should be in prison.

These lawsuits against a county, when settled, are paid by the taxpayer. Why not by the perpetrators who caused the suit?

Unless and until the LEO’s personal assets including pensions are at risk in these law suits nothing is going to change.

How can they sue if they were killed?

If they have the right lawyer:

For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

The Guerena family lawsuit likely faces an uphill battle.
I am sure her lawyers are working on a contingency basis. The Counties Lawyers are being paid by taxpayers.
The family does face an uphill battle , but I believe the county have a hard time finding a jury that is not on the families side.
Every deputy who fired a shot in that battle should be out looking for a job. Adrenalin and gung ho Ninja tactics do not excuse shooting a man down like a dog.
