Rick Perry has counted on the staunch support of Texas conservatives during his two decades of statewide triumphs in Texas. Hes an anti-tax, anti-spending, anti-regulation, anti-Washington stalwart.
Richard A. Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com and a leader on the right since the days of Ronald Reagan, called Perry a committed conservative whose presidential announcement brought a wave of relief to conservatives.
Then why are some conservative bloggers and activists warning others on the political right about a Perry presidential candidacy?
Before Republicans start salivating too heavily, it is important to examine Perry closely, says conservative talk-show host David Zublick. His conservative bona fides leave much to be desired.

We went through something like that in the first year or so, but we've always been very resolute. We knew for a fact that we could do a better job of educating our kids than the government indoctrination center could.
The truth is, a parent almost could not commit a worse atrocity against their child, than to turn them over to the leftist government brainwashing machine. If a parent truly understands the real nature of the public school system, they will never experience a single moment of doubt about home schooling.
Kudos to you for keeping your own children out of that meat grinder.
Pleased to meet you, Casinva.
If Donald Trump has woken up and become truly conservative, then I say good for him. Let him enjoy his epiphany as a private citizen. I want a president who has a proven track record of conservative leadership, not someone who got a clue in the last couple of years.
Trump was never in like Perot was when he jumped out...not a good analogy.
Huh? They both stood for president, then quit before the race was over. If Trump jumps back in, it's exactly the same thing that Perot did. I doubt that many voters would split hairs about it the way you're doing. He will not be trusted.
Perry will give lip service to all of that, but none of it will happen on his watch.
I've said that I'm a broken glass republican. I held my nose and voted for McCain (Palin helped ease the pain), but I just don't know if I can do it again.
Yes, on just about everything he says and does. He's like the broken clock though, correct two times.
Thank you. My dad is to thank for uncovering our Texas roots. Turns out that my GG grandfather was born here because his father was involved with the war for Texas independence. That knowledge does give me a certain sense of belonging.
Appreciate the welcome home.
And what Israeli tactics did he implement in Texas?
Wrong! Trump was never in and the race has just barely begun. Perot was in the middle of debates and it was in full swing. Way different.
Oh really? Kinda like Obama took out Usama all by himself? I thought it was Merck that discovered it and discussed it with his staff the day they gave $6,000 to his 2007 reelection campaign.
Whatta team, Al Gore invented the internet and Saint Rick discovered the cure for cancer.
Perry talks a good game. But he’s no Conservative.
He’s going to flame out in a hurry. The media lovefest alone is going to irritate people into looking elsewhere.
Morning Windflier!
I’ve been here on FR since 1998, and I could create a home page but have not felt a need to do so. I figured if someone were THAT interested in me, it would be more telling for them to research my posts.
I did watch the video though.
Uhmmmmmmm... That’s not DRey. That’s actually ME, and you can catch a glimpse of me reading a Ron Paulbot post on Free Republic at 2:59 of the video. :)

You must be one of those native Texans I’ve heard about. The kind that has the courage to stand and confront a problem rather than those I see who are trying to ignore the problems with Perry.
I spent a winter in Texas back in the mid 80s and found that Texans are actually pretty rare.
I’m glad it is all working out with you with the home schooling too and glad so many now are home schooling.
Throughout the years, we old time “pioneer” home schoolers, and then all those who joined throughout the years, began to understand more and more that we were just not educating our children and learning and growing together, but that we were also taking our rights back as the foundational authority (besides God) for our children.
It’s much easier to see that now and thus easier to be resolve to take this stand, but way back then, it was a very new thing, and we had not grasped it all yet.
Back than... the very beautiful woman who introduced me to the idea of home schooling, one of the first in Virginia to home school as we know it today, had to endure a court battle in the State of Virginia to determine if home schooling was even legal in today’s society. I watched her as her family went through that. I helped her start one of the first home schooling support groups in the State of Virginia. We began home schooling our first child just a couple years after that.
In case you notice the timing there, support group BEFORE home schooling, my husband and I went to our first meetings with our daughter in tow and a diaper bag on my shoulder. Hey, it’s never too early to teach your child things anyway, right? :)
It did, and still does, take a resolution to get keep going though. You’re right, and it’s good you have that. Don’t discount your wife’s resolution if she ever DOES have those doubts. She knows what a huge, huge responsibility she has — your children — and if she cares, which I’m sure she does — but she’s human and is not perfect, she will doubt, if nothing but her abilities from time to time. That’s what I was more describing.
So don’t discount her resolution as I’m sure you don’t. Just lift her up during those times you see or even just sense she may feel overwhelmed, even if she doesn’t admit it. What you are doing, after all, is one of the biggest chores you’ll ever have in this life to do.
Best wishes on your new school year!

Hmmm....we agree on this, and you eloquently highlighted the right reasons too.
Gardasil Researcher Drops a Bombshell
Harper: Controversal Drug Will Do Little To Reduce Cervical Cancer Rates
Dr. Diane Harper, lead researcher in the development of two human papilloma virus vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, said the controversial drugs will do little to reduce cervical cancer rates and, even though theyre being recommended for girls as young as nine, there have been no efficacy trials in children under the age of 15.
Well excussse me. TEXAS Dream act. It still sucks. It still encourages illegal immigration and rewards illegal behavior. Illegals are cranking out babies and dream act or not, they are a demographic time bomb. They dont vote conservative. 2 to 1 democrat. If unchecked, this nation will have one party rule. Socialist Democrat, thanks to the hispanic baby boom. You want that?
