I am NOT in favor of open borders, but I am against either a wall or a fence for technical reasons and because of the expense.

If compared against the cost of social and hospital services for illegals, a serious fence and a functioning Border Patrol might seem like a cheap investment.

expense and results....if you spend gazillions on a wall but its not monitored its a waste of money....didn’t Perry say he wanted to use predators to track illegal drugs coming across the border?? not perfect but a more efficient use of tax $$$..

Sure. But, the expense pays for itself once completed. You would need less man power to control the border once it's built.

I still don't know why we don't have a militarized border in this time of 'war'.

And if the threat of Terrorism is so high as to invade Iraq and strike in other places, one would assume you would cover your border as well.

Maybe the materials would be expensive, but the labor would be mostly free -- because we could arrest every illegal that comes to the attention of LEO, and put them to work for six months on the wall, before deporting them to Mexico with a tattoo on their foreheads saying: "Property of Mexico."

YouTube Video: Watch how fast illegal aliens can climb over, cut through and go under a worthless Border Fence that would cost Billions to build

Dirt cheap compared to the costs illegals cause by utilizing government services at all levels and especially education and medical care.

It's the law. And its practical. When you consider that the majority of the illegals come through via trucks, a fence makes awesomely good sense.

As far as the "expense" it was all totally funded ...over 3 1/2 years ago...and Bush simply refused to build it, and squandered a chunk of it on his 'virtual fence'...which has now been universally acknowedged to be a complete failure and mistake.

A hard real double fence is needed. Just like as designed by the Israeli's, and incorporated in the officially enacted Congressional Plan of Duncan Hunter...which Bush signed into law...and then fraudulently failed to implement as required by that law...and Obama pretends it doesn't even exist as a legal requirement...

Spot On! There are spots where a physical wall makes perfect sense, and vast amounts of wilderness where it would be a huge waste of money, because it will be breachable anyway. There are lots more common sense ideas to stop the flood beyond a physical wall on the entire border. Laws already on the books for starters.

2000 miles of unmanned fence in the middle of nowhere where no Mexican would dare to cross anyway or meet certain death is not the answer. You’re right. Perry is a smart man. Some people just refuse to listen.

What percentage of the "stimulus" would have effectively sealed our border? And all money that would have been spent in the U.S.

Far cheaper to give them free medical care through 0bamacare.
