>> Gore was considered a "moderate" within the Democrat Party. <<

Gore had an 9% "conservative" rating from the ACU when he ran for President in 1988. He had an even worse 6% conservative rating in 1987! If we go by your fantasyland claims that Gore's 91%+ liberal record made him a "moderate" back then, then San Francisco's Diane Feinstein is one of the most "moderate" Democrats in office today. Her ratings are EXACTLY like "moderate" Al Gore's were in 1988.

>> "Rick Perry is NO fan of the Bush family, they despise him" If you think this is a lie, then you know absolutely NOTHING about it. <<

Apprently Rick Perry himself "knows nothing about it", since he has PERSONALLY refutted this claim and says he's great pals with GWB and there's no bad blood between 'em. If you really think Bush hates Perry, take it up with YOUR candidate because he's insisting otherwise:
Perry on his predecessor: 'I love George Bush'

>> Sarah Palin has not said who she supports <<

Which hasn't stopped all the "honest" Perry supporters from taking a quote where she endorsed him for GOVERNOR over two turds and used it in a context to imply she's backing him for President.

>> He has always been a conservative. He was well known as a conservative here in Texas. <<

Sure, conservatives all LOVED Rudy Giuliani in 2008 like Rick Perry did, right? Funny how supporting Rudy in the primary back then got people banned from a CONSERVATIVE forum like here on FreeRepublic. And supporting in-state tuition for illegal aliens, hate crime bills, and mandatory vacinations in very conservative too I bet.

>> You clearly know nothing of Texas politics--or for that matter politics anywhere in the South at that time. I don't recall anyone asserting Reagan Republicans were liberals--clearly you are the liar here. <<

Apprently you know little of your own state, since the Govenror at the time was Bill Clements (R), the Senator was Jim Tower (R), and it gave 64% of the vote to REAGAN (R) for President. If Democrats were "THE Conservative Party" in Texas at the time, what were the Texas Republicans? They were the opposition party working AGAINST Perry's candidates. Obviously they weren't THE conservative party, since you're claiming Perry and the rest of the Texas Dems in Carter, Mondale, and Gore's camp were the "real" conservatives.

>> The claim of NEVER raising taxes depends on what you consider "taxes" <<

It depends on what the meaning of "is", is.

>> but there is no denying that compared to other states, he cut spending <<

Sure, that's why the Texas state budget went from $49 billion when he became Governor, to $90 billion today. Cuz he's such a good limited government guy compared to other states with much smaller budgets. Right.

>> Nice try, next time try telling the truth. <<

Have you looked in the mirror lately?

Yup, they’re the new Slick Willardbots. They’ve now crossed into outright lying. If anyone needs an excuse to vote against Captain Gardasil, they’ve given it to us.

They say the Bushes hate Perry. Of course publicly he’s gonna kiss Bush’s butt. He owes him for his current job.

I don’t know what the alleged cause of the supposed bad blood is but whether they like each other or not doesn’t mean they don’t share bad policy positions. It’s often personal with politicians who don’t get along. The Bush family is notorious for holding grudges against those that cross them. It wouldn’t even shock me if it was one-way hate maybe Perry doesn’t even know what he did to upset Bush. Maybe he’s mad that Perry the democrat undermined his father in 1988. Doesn’t really matter to me.

I wish certain Southerners knew as much about the political history of their own states as they claim. Just cause you live somewhere doesn’t necessarily mean you know jack.

How conservative Perry was aside, Gore wasn’t conservative or moderate either (least or 2nd least liberal democrat that ran that year but still liberal) and Perry was a loyal solider. Dare I suggest if rat prospects in Texas hadn’t nosedived Rick may never left that party? Perhaps he saw the writing on the wall when Lloyd Bentsen didn’t help Dukakis at all. I can’t read his mind but he seems like that type to me. They come in all ideological stripes but their main concern is their own power and success.

But who cares about that Sudetland, how about the last ten years of mediocrity? How about the tuition for illegals? Hmm? His record as a Republican Governor is more important than the late 80’s and it’s not the best story.

And yes tolls are taxes. Ever miss the last exit and get stuck on toll road you intended to leave?

“Other states did worse” is not much of a defense, most of those other states have been run by marxists. Conservative Texas with the rats finally ousted from the state house could have done better than it has done under Perry’s governorship.
