When Obama won the election against John McCain in 2008; he did so with a majority of the white vote. That's saying a lot considering the United States is the only nation on the planet whose citizens willingly elected, as their leader, a man who hails from the very class of people that was once considered only 3/4 human.
So if we Americans have grown beyond our racist past, then why is the first black president going after communities across America because he believes they are racist for not having enough blacks and Hispanics living there? Why did Obama instruct his DOJ to stop pursuing civil rights violations committed by nonwhite Americans? Not my accusation, but that of a former leading prosecutor of the DOJ, J. Christian Adams, who resigned over the administration's refusal to prosecute black violators. Adams wrote in a commentary for the New York Times;
"Citizens would be shocked to learn about the open and pervasive hostility within the Justice department to bringing civil rights cases against nonwhite defendants on behalf of white victims. Equal enforcement of justice is not a priority of this administration. Open contempt is voiced for these types of cases.
If Obama really wants to be, as he said, the president of all Americans, then why has he not asked the DOJ to investigate the escalating black on white violence across America? After all, Obama claimed that hate crimes would not be tolerated by his administration when he signed the new hate crime legislation in October of 2009. I guess he only meant hate crimes against blacks, Hispanics, and gay people, because what is happening across America today is unconscionable.

Excuse me?
I did discuss it. Look at my comments about it.
How can you say I was misleading everyone who read my post?
Please read my replies.
Also, please explain to me why I should continue repeating the same apology for my mistake, and repeat my explanation for the sentence?
I just do not believe in beating a dead horse until it’s blood is all over everyone.
But I will beat it a few more times so that you too can get some blood splattered on yourself in the process.
I understand the government reasoning for the 3/5. I readily admitted that I erred in writing 3/4, however if everyone wants to believe that a large portion of white citizens for many years did not look at blacks as animals you would be wrong.
I know the government didn’t, and I understand why they were counted at all. It was for representation in the House of representatives. That being said, even if the government was not, because it cannot be racist, a vast amount of white people did look at blacks as no better than animals. Especially a majority of slave owners. Oh they treated them better than the left would like us to believe, but they did so with their cows, horse, sheep and chickens also.
I know that many slave owners thought of blacks as less than human because sadly my ancestors on my grandmothers side owned slaves in SC. I also read plenty of papers and letters written by them where they thought all blacks were animals. Heck, they did not even think they were part human, let alone 3/5. My grandmother was still a a racist, and disowned a cousin because she married a black guy.
However, that being said, the sentence in my column had more to do with the way white America has come a long way in that they gave a majority of their vote to a black guy, and he turns around and acts racist towards us.
My whole point of putting the sentence on my column was to set up how Obama is more racist against white then white America is, and that he wants a certain amount of civil rights violations so that we will have a race war next summer and blame the republicans during the how summer primary season.
As I said, and this will be the end of it, I wish I had not used the sentence because everyone got distracted by the wrong percentage I used, and what you all thought about me mischaracterizing what the percentage meant.
Satisfied?
God bless,
Chuck
I, frankly, don’t know what a large portion of the population thought. I do know that one of my gggrandfather was a founding member of the anti-savery Republican party in NY state and that people in my family have risked their lives to defend against slavery and racial bias numerous times since then.
I understand, but I lost a Great Great Uncle, in the Civil War, and his brothers my Great Great Grandfather and Great Great uncle both survived fighting in a few of the most deadly battles of the war. Unfortunately they fought for the losing side.
Now we can look at the Civil war however we want, I personally believe it was truly the 10th Amendment War, and all of us lost when the North won. That being said, my ancestors started fighting to succeed from the Union on states rights, but when I read the family journals, I learned that when Lincoln freed the slaves, they fought even harder to keep their slaves from being set free.
In My Great great grandfather was Jake Holt, also referred to as Uncle Jake by the family because he outlived all his siblings and many of his children and a few grandchildren to be 99. Well when I was doing the family genealogy, I read portions of a journal that has been handed down through the generations, and in it he explicitly wrote that the blacks are not even human, and they never should have been set free because he believed in time they would revert to the savages they were in Africa, and destroy our culture.
As I stated, my grandmother Bernadine Carpenter (maiden name Holt) harbored racist beliefs about blacks up until she died. She even disowned a grand daughter for marrying a black man. My own mother did not care for them because she was a bit racist. I on the other hand never held those feelings, maybe because I was raised in Duluth Minn and I was not privy to my grandmothers feelings towards them until I was an adult.
Read the journals of those who lived at the time, especially those who lived in the border states of the Mason Dixon line. It the Southerners who were constantly being harassed by the anti-slavery states just North of them who were the worse when it came to how they felt about blacks. The constant protests and newspaper editorials in border towns that just drove them to the extreme it seems.
Put yourself in those times, it was harsh, and even after the war it was almost worse for many blacks because then the KKK was created, and the whole of the South was supportive. Look, they even marched on Washington in the early 1900s and the politicians supported them. We have come a long long way, and that was what that one sentence was supposed to show, how Americans felt, not the government. Just to have the first black president be a racists against whites. Sad.
So to say that a good amount of whites did not hold the belief that blacks were sub human would be a contortion of the historical truth. I remember meeting adult men and women when I was stationed in Ga in the early 1970s that told me to my face that the black people came from Cain sleeping with a monkey. How much more of a subhuman inference can you get than that?
I was shocked at how they interpreted the Bible, and as it turned out a good many white churches taught that in the South. It was them who thought that was the reason black men were counted as 3/5. They had no clue as to what the Bible, or the constitution said.
So when I wrote what I did, I did so from my perspective of what I know to be fact. When I was in the service in 1973, there were still white and black drinking fountains, and white and black entrances to some doctor offices in may small towns down South.
I could go on and on about the things I learned when I was living down South. Heck, before I joined the service, I traveled the country with a carnival, and when we got to Tupelo Mississippi, I was told by a cop that if he so much as sees me spitting on a sidewalk he would arrest me and lock me up with the n*@^s, instead of the good white criminals.
Someday I will tell you what I witnessed four deputy’s do to a young black guy when I was sitting in an a jail in Abbeville Ga for running a red light. Well, they found a joint in the ashtray of my friends car. We were on our way back to Ft Benning after giving a friend, (black guy) a ride home for leave.
I am not blind to our past, and I am not ignorant about the truth, I wrote what I wrote because I know from which I speak about race relations in this country, and I will not sugar coat it for no body. I have been confronted by both white and black racists my whole life, and so I have had a unique educational experience to reflect upon when discussing race relations in America.
Because of the many stories I could tell, I could write a novel about my experiences in it. Well, speaking of a novel, it was not my intention of getting so carried away, but I do tend to go on and on when I get on a roll.
God bless you,
OV, Chuck
Southerners insisted that they be counted as five-fifths. It was the Northerners who insisted they be counted as three-fifths.
I know that there was definitely prejudice, especially in the south, and also in the unions. The unions used racial prejudice as an organizing tool, “Join our union, and fight to keep your jobs from going to the negroes.” Trade unions were some of the worst perpetrators and disseminators of racial prejudice, hate and violence.
I know because my grandfather fought against exclusionary hiring practices at RCA and when he was elected president of the union, the CIO had him run down by a hit and run driver, as he stood on the curb in front of his home.
So sad, and I am sorry. You can understand i hope why I used the sentence, while I agree i should have worded it differently to keep from having all the confusion going on about my motive.
As it is, I now have freepers who think I am an idiot and some even think I am a leftists because they refused to read the whole article to understand my point.
Well, it is what it is, and in time I pray I will regain their confidence.
Thanks for hearing me out, and God bless you and yours.
OV, Chuck
Your basic premise is right, that Obama is setting America up for a situation that is very similar to Manson’s Helter Skelter. I made the same statement before Obama was elected after reading the article from American Thinker, Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis.
Where you seemed to go off track was not pointing out that it is the people who are pointing at conservatives as racists and obstructionists to the concepts of restorative justice and equality of outcome and the very people who were the worst racists and did the most damage to race relations.
Race relations are not going to improve under liberalism because forced egalitarianism is like legislating morality. You cannot regulate thought by police action, and restorative justice simply compounds the problem. Liberalism doesn’t really attempt to heal race relations, anyway.
You are correct.
Those who follow the liberal mantra, especially those who work to advance it, do the exact opposite.
They need people in apposing groups, so they can set them against each other when the time is needed depending upon the agenda of the day.
Divide and conquer is how they advance their agenda’s, and that ultimately will be their downfall, because eventually one group will become stronger and not back down when they are expected to.
Then the liberal propagandists will become an obstacle themselves. So instead of a utopian society, the people end up being subjected to an authoritarian ruler like Chavez, or Stalin who will just eliminate them from them from power permanently.
As for my premise, I would have been just fine if I left the whole reference to the 3/5 rule, and human statement out. By doing so, my objective would have been reached, and received with no backlash. (at least from conservatives)
A learning experience is what it was, and every now and then I am reminded why I need to be careful of how I structure an argument when setting up a premise I am presenting.
