Another flashmobbery took place at a 7-11 in Montgomery County, Maryland. Apparently, the police did not respond until the looters had ransacked and left the store.
From the video: A 7-11 in Montgomery County, Maryland was hit by a flash mob on August 13, 2011. The clerk activated a silent alarm, but police waited until the mob left the store before responding. Further, according to the video, the officer refused to investigate the crime, and only viewed this incident as shoplifting.

Officers race? I’m not sure how that would really matter. While one might think that a Black officer would be less likely to take on Black youths, it is my experience that most black officers are exactly the opposite, less forgiving of black youths. As one of them told me “I busted my ass to be a productive citizen, I got not no sympathy for em”.

Can anyone provide a listing of these type of happenings that have occurred in the past year?

Getting the first few might be a problem but it is easier to recruit once you have a small group.
Not to mention drugs which always seem to have a funny way of doing things to the thought process.

That would be good to know... Maybe some of us do not even realize that this has happened in our very own cities.

This has, I'm sure absolutely nothing to do with the flashmob and rampant theft, but I'm interested in the concept of "food deserts".
Low-income blacks stranded in food deserts describes a situation in which: "In one of the richest countries in the world, there are 23.5 million Americans, almost half of which are at or below the poverty line, who live in "food deserts". These are usually communities where there is limited or no access to foods necessary to maintain a healthy diet. Food deserts occur mostly in low-income urban or rural areas where it's either cheaper or easier to purchase a burger and fries combo than fresh produce."
I assume that the combination of a "food desert" in their area and flashmob hurting one of the few sources of food they do have is bad luck. These two couldn't possibly be related, could they? These people are just hit hard by society through no fault of their own community.

Many 24 hour convenience stores in New Orleans have a bank teller window with a large drawer and bullet-proof glass. You tell them what you want and put your money in the drawer. They slide it out with your change.

Ok, most of you guys aren't really getting this. This is a simple case of shoplifting. Small items were removed from the store without payment. Probably a couple hundred bucks worth.
What's the difference if it's done by one person or 20 people? No one was injured.
The assertion that cops 'waited' until the mob was gone isn't backed up by any evidence. If it was a silent alarm, how would the police know the situation? Were the cops in the bushed scared to confront the perps? Probably not.
What if the nearest cop was 10 minutes away and the mob only took 6 minutes to remove the items? Let's think a little bit here, people.

I think eventually these bad neighborhood stores will just be big vending machines, push a button with what you want and it comes out through a slot.

Probably a couple hundred bucks worth.Oh. Is that all. Hell, then. Just chalk it up to the price of doing business and move on.

and only viewed this incident as shoplifting. ... WTF is right: Detectives should be trying to nab a sample, charge them to the max, and settle for getting the names of the ringleader(s). The masterminds are NOT shoplifting, as this is a grand larceny and a felony.
