Just donated to perry and bought bumper sticker & yard sign (I am in)

I just committed myself 15 mins ago. My first round donation is done. Was always looking for the winnable conservative candidate with extensive executive experience. Between Romney and Perry, choice is clear. Only other possible entrant is Palin and she interested me as a reform minded GOP Governor who was a VP candidate. While she may enter the race and be more to the right of Perry, I am not looking for the "right most" candidate.

Of course....he plays both sides of the aisle ....even in his recent speech clearly he evidences what he said and what he’s done are directly opposite.

Let me share something, not out of argument but so you’ll at least see why it is so hard to see things as clearly as you when you actually live here in Texas.

For us here, many of these kids you are talking about are our children’s friends(and believe me, I have well-behaved, straight A, conservative children, kids doing well in college now too)! LOL These are our children’s friends who stay overnight at our homes and talk to us about their lives, go to the movies with our family and have to be quiet when we tell them they’re getting too loud (along with our own kids), do Boy Scout activities with our children, don’t know a lick of Spanish if they tried, and don’t know anything but an American way of life.

And before you start dissing us for associating with these kids, realize that thousands upon thousands of families here are of Hispanic origin, most probably here legally, having been raised by long-time American citizens. We don’t know if their parents have been here for 30 years living under the radar or 100 years as American citizens. These are our neighbors, our friends at church, our co-workers children, heck... our pastor’s children. We only know them as our friends.

While I understand amnesty is a political hot potato for politicians, and I’m not sure what I think about it, I want to share with everyone here that we are not talking about non people here. We are talking about real kids, real kids who have never lived anywhere else and don’t know anything other than American ways. While one can certainly have a good standing against amnesty based on laws of the land, you all should at least know we are faced with issues of reality here. We have grown up with many of these people, and to us, they are just like us. It’s hard to reign down as hard as others may be able to when you live with this kind of reality, but please know that for us, it’s just sometimes hard to deal with.

As for taking something away from others, I don’t see how that happens when there are colleges and universities all over Texas who will take more students. Someone going to a college should not stop another child from going to college, unless they just were not college material to begin with.

So... I’m not just disagreeing with what your point of view may be. I’m just sharing what it is like in many places here in Cowboy Country so you won’t have an ill conceived idea of who these kids are or what they are like. Granted, not all are great, as in any population. It just that most are just like US.

What I think we can all easily agree and not have conflicts like mentioned above is on border security. If the illegal aliens had been stopped on our borders to begin with, we wouldn’t have to deal with these problems.

Feel free to belittle me. Just know I’m only telling you what it’s like here and why it is hard to see these kids as the pieces of dirt some of you simply portray them to be.

Oh, and here's the part of the 14th Amendment you were referring to:

1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The crux of the amendment is in the requirement to be subject to the jurisdiction of the USA. The application to children born to mothers and fathers who are citizens of other nations e.g. Mexico and Kenya sets the reference for the crux.

Concerning the 14th amendment, here is a little more insight:

Originally, the legislative creators of the 14th amendment intended that the children of foreign citizens born in the US would NOT be US citizens.

Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

The legislative intent was that foreign citizens were not “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States” and therefore their children born in the US would not be US citizens. But the vagueness of the wording allowed the Supreme Court to ignore legislative intent and come to a different conclusion.

The Supreme Court in an 1898 decision known as ‘U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark’ made new law with its new interpretation that children of foreign citizens born in the US soil are US citizens.

A new Supreme Court decision overturning this precedent or rewording of the 14th Amendment would be necessary for children of illegal aliens to be excluded from citizenship.

Most illegals think that by having their children in America, that they will be able to stay here when caught. That is wrong. America will not deport the child, but the parent will be deported. If it is not a deportation because of an arrest, they will be able to take their children with them. However, if it is deportation because of a criminal arrest, the children will be placed in foster care of with a legal family member. The child’s citizenship status has nothing to do with the parent’s status.


Let’s agree to protect our borders and follow immigration and deportation laws so we do not have to deal with these issues, but let’s not ignore our Constitution.

Rick Perry follows the old Karl Rove trick book of playing emotions about Obama “apologizing for America” to hide the RINO policies of a possible Perry presidency.

Like repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a lighter version.....haven’t you heard RINO GOP congressional leaders talk about “repeal and replace.”

The big business money men who support “electable” candidates like Romney and Perry actually want a national healthcare system to improve their bottom lines.

They don’t have to pay for medical bennies anymore.

Another thing.

Sarah Palin took on oil companies that supported the RINO Murkowski machine in Alaska.

Is it possible the oil money that hates Palin is being recruited to support Perry as a Palin stopping candidate.

We shall see.........

There was nothing wrong with the Constitution but plenty wrong with the majority of SCOTUS in 1895. They were as wrong as those fools in 1973 who upheld Roe v. Wade.

Precedent had already been set in 1875 with Minor v. Happersett, but noooo, that wasn't good enough for the idiots of 1895.
