Nice progression. Interesting theory.

I agree. I doubt ANY representative can win a national election for the president today. 0zero proves the point of having executive experience being necessary.

No offense to Boehner but I’d like to see more tea party conservatives elevated into the House leadership.

Yeah I am pleased and surprised by Pawlenty quitting. I thought he would be the Romney attack dog the way Huckabee was for McCain in 2008.

I do not dislike Perry, but I really like Palin.

I also like Bolton, who is still making noises about entering the race.

One thing I am sure of, and that is whoever the nominee is, that person MUST be able to articulate why Obama has been such a disaster, and offer understandable alternatives to the people.

You cannot talk about “reducing the deficits in the out years” and that other green eye-shade talk. You have to use words like “credit limit” and “paying our bills.” THAT is how most people think.

I appreciated Perry’s speech yesterday and think he has a shot. I think Palin does as well. Quite frankly, I will vote for anyone who wins the nomination.

I think it is a mistake to demonize those whom we don’t support in the primaries. It leaves that person’s supporters with a bitter taste, and very often if their nominee loses they cannot muster the enthusiasm to contribute or even get themselves to the polls. (See McCain, John for an example of that.)

Pawlenty has dropped out because he cannot muster the necessary fierceness to go after Obama. And although he is a nice man who was a good governor, he just doesn’t have what it will take this time. Had he gotten the nomination, Obama’s machine would have crushed him.

So, although Romney is not my first, second, or fourth choice, I am not going to trash him. For all we know, Palin won’t run and Perry will flame out. I caution everyone to remember that the point of all of this is to DEFEAT OBAMA DECISIVELY.

Thank you for reading this mini-lecture. I will now go back to reading the thread.

Several of the candidates are capable of good governance. Good governance isn't enough. The face of the national party HAS to change. The RNC the Senate and House organizations who decides who is going to get support in races. Etc, etc.

How does that happen and who is in the best position to be that catalyst for change?

Michelle did great and better than that, she looked relaxed and confident. He couldn’t trip her up and she stuck to Tea Party principles. We have an excellent chance of having a Tea Partier in the White House.

Just cutting in to point out that ZeroAA has extended his record-smashing streak of a sub -20 Presidential Approval Index to SIX consecutive days (according to Rasmussen)!

Today's is -22. Carry on.

I watched the whole thing. It was great, thanx!!!

She handled the “Obama was vetted more than you” comment much better than I would. Lemon says, “Why is that question wrong?” I do think he believes it!

Hey Don, what about Ayers? You guys made a big stink about Todd belonging to the Alaska Independence party. so what about Bill Ayers? You tried to hide Rev-e-rund Wright... You tried to hide (and I believe succeeded) Tony Rezko, the dirty tricks against the Hillary! campagin, his dirty tricks in the Illinois Senate campaign, and the total lack of grades and papers from Obama’s academic years, which was most of his adult life. You failed!

Damn. It’s useless trying to argue with these people. Just show disdain for them and laugh in their faces, like Sarah did!

And the Senate. I can picture Rubio in McConnell’s job. Reid would have a stroke a day.

yep and that is the mistake the Perry supporter I see on the web today are making. You don't relentlessly trash talk the other candidates and then go ask their supporters to vote for you. Pawlenty should be a good object lesson for the rest of the candidate's, don't go after you own, Republican voters don't respond well to those sorts of tactics. Our allies are not the enemy, 0 and the Democrats are.

ROFLOL, No, thank you for your thoughts.

Only question is on Bolton. I’d rather see him as Secretary of State but I know he’s considered jumping into the fray.

I hope you’re right.

The Blue Bloods love him though, and he’s got tons of money.

As a slight aside and I’ll never mention it again, my very own column is up and doing quite well. It’s a paid gig, I am, you should smile, quite prolific, and my column is almost always in the Top Ten most read.

http://www.themortonreport.com/features/facing-realitytv/

Oh dear Lord, yon readers should smile. I write about ...TADA...Reality TV.

Got me a fan base on Twitter and Digg, heh. I write about the most vapid of topics but I love it, yes I do. I write of Project Runway, Hell’s Kitchen, The Bachelorette, America’s Got Talent.

NEVER...does a word of politics exit my keyboard except I complained oncit about Obamer interupting The Bachelorette.

Heh.

The readers would swoon if they had any idea how political I am.

For now, it’s birdseed dresses and puppy pad skirts.

And yeah, I watch all this stuff.....heh.

But the other side of my brain watches and participates in this thread. Gotta be on an even keel, and being a middle child helps, to do this.

Heh.

Thanks. This gives me the opportunity to comment, once again, that we need to contact and help elect better RNC members. It amazes me how they hide under the radar for the most part and yet they are elected at state conventions. Wikipedia has a list of who’s elected by state.

I would like to believe that but it’s not so, Johnnie.

The Iowa straw poll is not a vote per se; rather, each candidate pays participants a sum of money which is then donated to the Iowa Republican party. The more you pay, the more votes you get.

Notice Ron Paul coming in second. Normally, he’s a fringe candidate—but in this case, his campaign paid out a lot.

Last time, in 2007, Romney WON this straw poll event. He then went on to LOSE the Iowa caucus in Jan of 2008! I suppose he didn’t want to spend so much and get nothing in return....

However, after all that being said, it gives momentum to candidates as they can say they won and the press will echo that. So in Bachman’s case she has a lot of wind in her sails now.

But as for Romney, he’ll (sadly) be baaaccckkk....

Gregory is losing his debate with Bachmann.

His voice is sounding neurotic, hers calm. He keeps saying, “but, but, but, and reading gotcha quotes, AND interrupting her.

She is a fabulously fact-oriented responder.

The news gets better and better.

Now, having driver their approval index to Negative 22, the 0 machine has decided they need to kick the campaign mode into hysteric overdrive.

This is NOT going to help.

Their whole problem is too many "Independent" voters are waking up to the fact 0 is a street agitator pretending to be a leader. Making him agitate more and lead less is not going to help them.

Obama ponders a bold [Economic] strategy (barf alert)

She just gave a great explanation on why no Republican would take the phony “$10 in cuts for each $1 in tax increases” deal, using Reagan as a great example of why not.

Good as far as it goes. IMO the answer to that question should be another question, i.e., "Why should we link spending cuts to revenue increases?"

I hope Bachnann has not painted herself in a corner with no increase in the debt limit categorically. The debt limit had to be raised because there is no way we could make the 60% cuts in spending immediately to align ourselves with revenue. We need to change the spending trajectory, but it won't be done overnight given the real drivers of our debt, i.e., the entitlement programs. Bachmann should have supported cut, cap, and balance.
