p>The Talk Shows
August 14th, 2011
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): 2012 GOP presidential candidate and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Bachmann; Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Bachmann; Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Bachmann and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, both 2012 GOP presidential candidates.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Bachmann and Herman Cain, also a 2012 GOP presidential candidate; Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa
Palin asked that her name not be written in.
She won the “free to the public” corn kernel vote.
Ok Chris we get it, you want to raise taxes and get her to say she would, she won’t give it up.
I missed the FNS opening. I was watching ABC TW.
Am back at FNS now. Bachmann seems to have a ‘spit in your eye’ expression this morning.
[You know the Bachmann-Iowa win goaded Wallace and the Romney supporters.]
and FOX NEWS,,,,
That’s great! Thanks!
My guess is Palin has developed enough to understand how to handle the media better than many other Republicans. If so, she will be even better. I’d like to have seen that.
FNS
Wallace is trying to imply that ‘default’ was the fault of the Tea Party types, ie, Bachmann, etc. [He did get the Dem talkingpoings.]
Last week, Fox’s Wallace pitted Pawlenty against Bachmann
for Wallace’s sweetheart Romney.
Pawlenty has just pulled out, after FOX hit the airways
saying Pawlenty was a loser, having come in third in the
Iowa straw “poll”.
That said, on FOX News, at kickoff,
Wallace apologizes to Ms. Bachmann who accepts it.
Ms Bachmann talks about jobs. Wallace switches to Perry.
Wallace deems that she has no experience compared to Perry.
She gives a good response.
Wallace (quiet for minutes, attentive to the
speaker in his left ear-earphone, goes to script)
poses a hypothetical and asks
“Are you willing to compromise”.
Over and over, PR Rep Wallace pushes.
Will she accept “half a loaf”?
Then Wallace misquotes Ms. Bachmann,
and she corrects him, but he does not apologize.
Yipes. It appears that Wallace is unable to respond
to what the candidate says,
unable to follow the comments,
and always goes back to his agenda.
She just gave a great explanation on why no Republican would take the phony “$10 in cuts for each $1 in tax increases” deal, using Reagan as a great example of why not.
She just blew the whistle on Geithner and Obama knowing full well that the S&P downgrade was coming and played politics with other people’s money anyway.
Thanks for the info. I am still counting on her phenomenal foresight and strategic thinking. And thanks for the report on her laughing at a “some say” gotcha question. Oh, how I wish all of our conservatives would do the same thing.
I would love to see that clip, Miss Marple! Do you have a link handy?
Also, Wallace continues to use the euphemism “revenues” when he knows and we know he means increased tax laws, not increases of people contributing to the pot.
You could be right but we’ll know more as time goes on.
Palin appeals to a demographic different than Perry. Perry seems to be seen as someone who can appeal to both the tea party people and establishment Republicans. Maybe so but he has a way to go to prove that.
Palin is unlikely to appeal to establishment Republicans and Rino’s but her appeal to the base is stronger and she has a way of attracting Libertarians and Democrats. But this opinion is all conjecture and speculation as well.
One thing I DO believe is that IF Palin announces, the media/press feeding frenzy will be full bore and even zero won’t be able to get much air time.
Except that Perry was on his way in anyway and has an organization in place to help. Palin has not said one way or the other and does not have a working organization yet.
Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread.
Tourists are still among us here in the swamps of Delaware but Labor Day looms.
I am quite glad that Michelle Bachman won the straw poll in Iowa. I’d love to see her figure in the upcoming Republican primary in some form or fashion.
Husband and I took a beating in the stock market. Dag, they told us unless we increased Obamer’s credit card limit the stock market would crash. So we gave him more on the credit card and the stock market crashed.
They told us that unless we increased Obamer’s credit card limit that the USA’s credit rating would go down. So we increased Obamer’s credit card limit and S&P lowered our credit card rating.
They told us that unless we gave Obamer billions of dollars to dish out to his campaign contributor buddies to rebuild the roads and the country’s infrastructure that it would take more years beyond the one it would take if we gave him the money. It’s now almost three years after Obamer’s hopey and changey election and still we are in a recession.
They told us that unless we gave Obamer those same billions of dollars that unemployment would rise above the 8% it would stay at if we gave him the money. So we gave Obamer the money and the unemployment rate is over 9% and seems bound to stay there.
It almost seems like we’re being lied to don’t it?
Finally, next Saturday me and husband will be attending a RNC rally featuring...DRUMROLL...RNC National Chair...REINCE PREBUS!!!!
In Sussex county, YES! The RNC trying to mend fences, YES!
I will be there manning the voter registration booth, husband too, his curmudgeon self. At a local small brewery...will tell you all about it next Sunday.
YES!
Wallace is a flake, what stupid questions followed by 5 gotcha questions that she wanted to spend stimulus money. He knows people see through his agenda now.
rg-Palin has til mid Sept to enter the race. The poll showed the weakness of Mitt Rino and her trip to the fair showed her ability to draw the crowds. It would likely be between her and Perry.
Pray for America
gov goodhair is NOT a conservative.
Romney is finished. If he cannot do better then this in the Midwest, and he cannot win south of the Mason Dixon line, where does he put together a win of the Nomination?
I will see if I can find it.
Excellent news
Wallace appears and sounds gleeful with
his announcement of the FOXnews-engineered-Pawlenty pull out.
Wallace says that the pullout (from his baiting
Bachmann vs. Pawlenty) was only 2 days after Pawlenty’s
100 campaign appearances. What joy Wallace shows.
He then goes to the weekly Romney-lover panel
with group criticism of Perry, and past candidates.
RomneyBOT Wallace ends by saying
Romney is in the top tier followed by Perry and Bachmann.
(ignoring that Romney only got 3% in Iowa).
Bottom line:
Biased FOX has knocked out another candidate for Romney.
