I do not dislike Perry, but I really like Palin.
I also like Bolton, who is still making noises about entering the race.
One thing I am sure of, and that is whoever the nominee is, that person MUST be able to articulate why Obama has been such a disaster, and offer understandable alternatives to the people.
You cannot talk about “reducing the deficits in the out years” and that other green eye-shade talk. You have to use words like “credit limit” and “paying our bills.” THAT is how most people think.
I appreciated Perry’s speech yesterday and think he has a shot. I think Palin does as well. Quite frankly, I will vote for anyone who wins the nomination.
I think it is a mistake to demonize those whom we don’t support in the primaries. It leaves that person’s supporters with a bitter taste, and very often if their nominee loses they cannot muster the enthusiasm to contribute or even get themselves to the polls. (See McCain, John for an example of that.)
Pawlenty has dropped out because he cannot muster the necessary fierceness to go after Obama. And although he is a nice man who was a good governor, he just doesn’t have what it will take this time. Had he gotten the nomination, Obama’s machine would have crushed him.
So, although Romney is not my first, second, or fourth choice, I am not going to trash him. For all we know, Palin won’t run and Perry will flame out. I caution everyone to remember that the point of all of this is to DEFEAT OBAMA DECISIVELY.
Thank you for reading this mini-lecture. I will now go back to reading the thread.
yep and that is the mistake the Perry supporter I see on the web today are making. You don't relentlessly trash talk the other candidates and then go ask their supporters to vote for you. Pawlenty should be a good object lesson for the rest of the candidate's, don't go after you own, Republican voters don't respond well to those sorts of tactics. Our allies are not the enemy, 0 and the Democrats are.
ROFLOL, No, thank you for your thoughts.
Only question is on Bolton. I’d rather see him as Secretary of State but I know he’s considered jumping into the fray.
In some interview, Palin was asked if she would support Romney (I think it was Romney) and she said she would if he was the nominee. She said for her it was ABO (anybody but Obama). I feel exactly the same way, although neither I nor Palin want Romney.
This remark was, of course, jumped on by the Palin haters and the “I won’t vote if ...” crowd on FR, but it was exactly on target.
