AUSTIN, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – Texas Governor Rick Perry on Thursday said that Arizona’s immigration law would not be appropriatre for his state, saying the focus must remain on border security. Texas has a long history with Mexico and shares the longest border with the country of all U.S. states - more than 1,200 miles. Both have had many encounters through history including an historic armed conflict which led to the Mexican-American War in 1846. “As the debate on immigration reform intensifies, the focus must remain on border security and the federal government’s failure to adequately protect our borders. Securing our border is a federal responsibility, but it is a Texas problem, and it must be addressed before comprehensive immigration reform is discussed,” Perry said.

He mentioned “comprehensive reform” ~ that means stepping back from treating foreigners as foreigners.

This story is from April of 2010. It’s hardly “News.”

Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of the effort, but unfortunately the Arizona law will be rule unconstitutional by SCOTUS since it is the job of the Federal govt to enforce immigration law.

In a 2001 Border Summit speech, Governor Perry described to fellow border governors and others in attendance the amount of poverty :

" President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity. It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity."

Everyone knows that “comprehensive immigration reform” is just another way of saying amnesty. So Perry is like McCain. Seal the border first so we can amnesty those who are already here. Nice.

BTW, I’m not entirely opposed to a very limited amnesty for the truly hard cases, but that’s not what our political class wants. If we allow it, they’ll write an amnesty so generous virtually everyone already here will get to stay, and it looks like Perry is just another Bush in this regard.

As far as I can tell Perry hasn’t been effective at all
when it comes to the border. Cant leave any thing at the
hunting camps in Del Rio for the past 15 years. Wildlife
cams showed us who the perps were. If you leave it unlocked
they just dirty it up. If you lock it they trash it.
Yep, Perry, Ineffective on the boarder to the point that it
looks like he’s actually for it.

Perry went to Mexico and bragged about Texas' Dream Act.

hen another border state (AZ) was being sued by the Obama administration Perry chose instead to oppose SB 1070.

Perry has spoken against using E-Verify to prevent illegal immigrants from getting jobs as state employees.

In a speech in Mexico in 2007, Perry said he supported completely open borders, calling for the “free flow of individuals between these two countries who want to work and want to be an asset to our country and to Mexico.”

It was in that same speech that he said he was against building a fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Perry is a fraud. And now that he has announced he will never withstand the scrutiny by his opponents.

And this is why CFR-Rick is unsuitable as the GOP nominee.

He'd make an excellent DemocRAT nominee, however!

Maybe I am wrong in my interpretation of that quote, but isn’t Perry telling the Mexicans that the only way to open the border is for them to stop being a rotten, low rent sewer? He is basically calling the Mexicans filthy cockroaches in polite terms here.

Anyone leaning to Perry had better do some due diligence one this guy. His record is all over the net.

Perhaps these of the “problems” you’ll find there are why Perry dodged the debate and the Iowa straw poll: TOO MANY REAL CONSERVATIVES ASKING POINTED QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS CRAPPY RECORD. I can’t speak for Perry’s heart and his relationship with the Lord. I’d simply remind you that Jimma Carter — now our second WORST PRESIDENT — also wore his alleged Christianity on his sleeve.

All this proves is that he has more sense than you do.

Perry did take significant measures to secure the border without doing something that would alienate Hispanics. That is smart politics and will pave the way for an even easier win against Obama.

but isn’t Perry telling the Mexicans that the only way to open the border is for them to stop being a rotten, low rent sewer?

Given that Mexico has a corrupt government, a corrupt military, corrupt law enforcement and corrupt citizens, isn't it a bit of a stretch to ever think they might be anything else? It is. Consider his following comments and the others make sense.

In a speech in Mexico in 2007, Perry said he supported completely open borders, calling for the “free flow of individuals between these two countries who want to work and want to be an asset to our country and to Mexico.”

At minimum he is delusional at worse he is a open-borders RINO who can't be trusted.

Seems to me if he were running to be Governor of Texas now instead of President that he’d probably be addressing Arizona’s law in a more positive manner.
