Conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter is joining the advisory council of GOProud, a conservative organization comprised primarily of homosexuals. In a statement released on Tuesday, GOProud said that Coulter is now an honorary chair of its advisory council and her official title will be Gay Icon.
"Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement; we are honored to have her as part of GOProud's leadership," board Chairman Christopher Barron proclaimed in the statement. Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of these things. We need more Ann Coulters.
Coulter is scheduled to headline the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Fla., this September. However, her honorary board position seems to be in direct opposition to CPACs parent group, the American Conservative Union (ACU), who recently voted against formally inviting GOProud to its 2012 conference.
Coulter, an outspoken conservative, has been an active participant in prior CPAC events. She has spoken out against same-sex marriage and recently said in an appearance on Joy Behars talk show that she believed what is known as reparative therapy, works in some cases and that the military should be comprised of only heterosexual males.
Coulter describes herself as a lifelong Republican and has documented her disagreement with Democrats over social issues in her books and various speeches.
ACU declined to reveal the vote count to The Christian Post. However, Tom Minnery, executive director of Focus on the Family affiliate CitizenLink, said, "It was a very substantial vote, I understand, in favor of the action that was taken."
Minnery said GOProud is fundamentally incompatible with conservatives because of its support for same-sex marriage.
"The definition of marriage is so central to a traditional understanding of what family is that having them as participants in the conference seemed to be at odds with the goals of the conservative movement," he said.
Last year, Coulter told attendees at GOProud's Homocon that she does not support same-sex marriage and that they do not have a "civil right" to marry.
Coulter, who also proclaimed she is a "conservative Christian," maintained her opposition to same-sex marriage during an interview on C-SPAN 2: Book TV last Sunday. She also told the C-SPAN host that many of her fans are homosexual and that she believes homosexuals' interests align with those of the Republican Party.
"Gays are a demographic group that has one of the highest incomes in America. They are victims of crimes. The Muslims don't think to highly of them. So, basically the entire Republican platform is fighting the some causes any sane gay person should care about," she shared.
She also defended GOProud, saying it does not have a position on same-sex marriage.
"They used to have a position in favor of gay marriage," Coulter said of GOProud.
However, she asserted, "They don't care about marriage. Gays talk about gay marriage because they think [Republican approval of same-sex marriage] will prove we like them and so I just tell them, 'we like you. We just don't like gay marriage.'"
But Minnery told The Christian Post, "They (GOProud) gave a number of interviews last year about their opposition to [traditional] marriage."
Despite her opposition to same-sex marriage, Coulter issued a statement approving her new role on the group's board.
"I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud's Advisory Council, and look forward to being the queen of fabulous," she said.
Coulter joins other noted conservatives on GOProuds advisory board. They include: Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform, Andrew Breitbart, Liz Mair, Chuck Muth, former CPAC director Lisa De Pasquale, Christian Josi, Republican strategist Roger Stone, Andrew Langer, Kathryn Serkes and Bob Carlstrom.
The Christian Post repeatedly attempted to contact the ACU for a statement on Coulter's affiliation with GOProud but did not receive a response.
Who here hasn’t known all along that Ann Coulter was just a phony urban Northeastern social liberal “conservative”?
I’ve pointed this out for years, but people thought I was just making it up.
I guess even conservative gays need their “fag hags”.
Anne Coulter has lately turned into a big, beautiful, disappointment.
First her “romance” with Islamophilic, anti-Second Amendment Chris Christie, and now this.
Too bad Anne. You must be keeping the wrong company.
Muslims are gainst a LOT of things. Using the fact that they oppose homosexuality, doesn’t sell your point. As a matter of fact, I’m probably closer to the Muslims on this subject - although I believe in living and letting live, as long as they don’t stick their lifestyle in the face of the public.
Anne - grow up!!!
This link offers nothing to the thread.
You know, the gays who are going to vote for us already do. The ones who don't probably never will. Why pander to them?
Ann’s #1 goal in life is to remain the center of attention. When Palin came along she went from being first in the media’s eyes to a distant second and since then other women like Bachmnn have pushed her further back.
Since most of the “conservative elite” are friendly to homosexuality and only take a position against gay marriage because of their audience Coulter taking this position isn’t too unbelieveable. she doesn’t really have a problem with the behavior and look! She’s back in the news again.
I agree with you that there should be no preaching in the schools. It should be for reading, writing and Arithmetic (throw in wood shop and the other standard courses).
I don't want anyone telling my kids how to live or what they should believe at school. It is not the place for it. This push for all these political agendas at school is why a parent needs to be very involved in the curriculum. It takes a lot of time.
I actually got called into the school when I worked with one of my kids on a homework assignment to make sure she covered an issue objectively instead of regurgitating the party line they were feeding her.
If only Ann would give me 3 minutes on a weekend night I could change her back. Well, maybe even 4 minutes.
That bony old thing? It’d be like sleeping with a bag full of broomsticks...
After all these years, now it’s patently obvious that Ann is in fact a gay male, trapped inside a woman’s body.
Coulter’s more complex than any of her oeuvres reveal. She’s no favorite of mine. For irritation AND entertainment, I’d rather read Paglia, even though she’s way more to the left. Coulter has dated leftists and she may be gay and she’s said some silly things.
On the other hand, she’s the sort of person I think we’d need if we ever had another revolution, which we won’t, because we don’t have enough people like Coulter anymore, capable of starting it.
One thing, though, sticks (no pun intended) out from it all: she’s reported to have said, “I don’t care about anything else: Christ died for my sins and nothing else matters.”
I really love that attitude, and I’ll bet Christ does too.
Plus her pro-Romney leanings.
I am totally confused.
“These are two very bright and competent people. I dont know why on earth they are doing this”
And before I judge I would like to find out.
My guess? Lots and lots of books to sell.
Good point. Although this move won't help her with conservatives one iota. The left won't be embracing Coulter over this relatively minor gesture and the right will be very wary of her from this point, on. Well, I will be, anyway. She's losing my trust in her conservative convictions. I've never had that kind of doubt with either Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann.
Since most of the conservative elite are friendly to homosexuality and only take a position against gay marriage because of their audience Coulter taking this position isnt too unbelievable. She doesnt really have a problem with the behavior and look! Shes back in the news again.
If Ann Coulter is all about being famous and a part of the Republican establishment, I consider her useless. Yet she'll still be on Fox News and some of the leftist networks posing as a 'conservative'. This is frustrating. I'm sick of these half-baked conservatives that are good on a few issues then go left on others. I can't stand them as political candidates, e.g. Mitt Romney and I don't want them posing as 'conservative' commentators. If Ann is against gay marriage she should give groups such as 'GOProud' a wide berth, not join their advisory board. Makes no sense.
Follow the money. There is a very wealthy homosexual that is behind this. Just like the Log Cabin fudge packers. This goes to show how these groups intend on taking over conservative organizations. Money can buy a lot of influence.
Is Coulter a lesbian?
Or just single?
In any event, her column today about the UK riots was spot on.
