George Lopez wasn't afraid to talk about show getting canceled on "Lopez Tonight" yesterday -- but he told the crowd that he was being fired because of the color of his skin.

Lopez -- whose voice was featured in the "Smurfs" movie -- was talking about how Sony has greenlit a "Smurfs" sequel during his monologue ... and quipped, "So today I lost some work because I'm brown, but I got some work because I'm blue!"

Is Lopez REALLY blaming race ... or was he just trying to crack a bad joke?

This failed "funny man" is an unabashed lefty....and nasty, too.

In a monologue, he referred to Sarah Palin as "la cabrona" (bitch).

He went on to comment about the time she had a word or two of crib notes for reference written on her hand when she was making a Tea Party speech.

Senor Dopez said, "If she becomes President where is she going to write 'Ahmadinejad'....on her cleavage?"

This type of commentary runs deeper than just making "jokes".

Reminds me of a story I heard about the black guy who got fired from the cabinet shop for showing up late and doing a terrible job when he was there.
