Hollywood is looking to shed light on the top-secret commandos who killed the worlds top terrorist, and the White House is helping, one congressman says.
The U.S.'s top brass is reportedly giving filmmakers the inside scoop to all things Navy SEAL for a movie about the squad who took out Osama bin Laden.
Rep Peter King has called for a probe into the access allowed to filmmakers for a movie about SEAL Team 6
The New York Times reported this week that military officers were shocked when writer Mark Boal showed up at a CIA ceremony in honour of Team 6.
Boal, along with director Kathryn Bigelow, wrote the Oscar-winning Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker, and is now scribing a Navy SEAL film.
For the project, Mr Boal and Miss Bigelow reportedly have been granted unique access to the inner workings of the Pentagon.
Rep. Peter King, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said letting Hollywood in on sensitive information like SEAL Team 6 may cost lives.
In addition, the lawmaker contends that granting such privileges could tarnish the war on terror and other disastrous consequences.
Mr King asked the inspectors general of the CIA and the Department of Defense to determine what consultations occurred in the White House about providing Hollywood with access to covert military operators and clandestine CIA officers.
In a letter dated August 10, Mr King demanded an investigation into 'ongoing leaks of classified information regarding sensitive military operations.'

Seriously, this man must be impeached. He blames our financial troubles on a big, messy, tough democracy. He is giving classified information to moviemakers to produce a movie for his reelection. (Incidentally, are the producers going to give their profits back to the American people since we funded the raid.) He is using the return of the remains of the Navy Seals as a photo-op against the will of the families. This guy has to go.
Which studio produced this film, and what other films are they releasing in the coming year?
Do we as filmgoers need to give them our business?
“Which studio produced this film”
Sony Pictures. All of my electronics are Sony, but it’s time to switch brands since they feel that they need to inject themselves into the election.
Obama has absolutely no shame- using our military in his sorry effort to get re-elected.
Only one answer- the ditz making this POC WILL get an Oscar, and that’s a given. But “as for me and my house”, we will not put ONE penny in her pocket. Might I suggest that we all choose not to see this piece of dreck?
No, not at all. It is supposed to make Obama look good! I was being sarcastic in my post meaning that no one could afford to go to the movie at regular price.
Oh, Sony?

If civilian filmmakers are given what is the most top secret information on our nation’s elite forces, our future security will be compromised. I hope Peter King can stop this affront to our best and brightest before it’s too late.
Well, I don’t recognize any of those movies!!
In the real world this would result in the House charging 0bama for treason. But in this Brave New World no big deal.
What about the military channel and all the info that they disclose?
I saw the trailer for one of them, “Courageous.” It appears to have been made by the same group that did “Fireproof,” a movie I liked. I’m disappointed to see Sony behind “Courageous” and I think this movie’s target audience would not be composed of BO supporters.
That said, I don’t really recognize any of those other movies, besides the Smurfs one. I don’t see anything there that really interests me.
I saw this on news interview.... I knew exactly who he was talking about. He got his point across loud and clear. How can they even think about making a movie about this when we have our soldiers/Marines still fighting. Go ahead and give away the secret inside training of the Seals. Our enemies will be watching and learning.
It’s United States Taxpayer property. Will every taxpayer get a royalty from the film?
I am utterly disgusted.
FYI - this film is set to be released in October 2012 ... just in time for Obama to take credit for the killing of BinLaden.
Nice to see Hollywood types getting behind Obama again isn’t it?
BOYCOTT this film at all costs.
“The New York Times reported this week that military officers were shocked when writer Mark Boal showed up at a CIA ceremony in honour of Team 6.”
Not just shocking, but disgusting.
No doubt.
“Could the unprecidented access have compromised the mission?”
Or further endanger the lives of those presently (or not) serving?
