Veterans' Group Strongly Endorses Rick Perry, Encourages Him To Run

(Austin, Texas) – Veterans for Rick Perry, a candidate committee under Federal Election Commission rules, today called upon Texas Governor Rick Perry to enter the race for President of the United States.

"As a veteran with a solid record of supporting veterans and military issues in the State of Texas, we believe Governor Perry is the best person for the job of President," said Dan Shelley, Air Force veteran and founder of Veterans for Rick Perry. "We believe Governor Perry is uniquely qualified to lead our nation through the trials that lie ahead. He has demonstrated an ability to reduce government and keep taxes low while supporting veterans’ issues and creating economic and educational opportunities for veterans. Governor Perry, we need you as our Commander-in-Chief!"

Perry, a captain in the Air Force from 1972 to 1977, has a long history of supporting veterans and active-duty military members from Texas. As Governor, he has supported the "College Credit for Heroes" program, which allows universities to extend college credit for military experience, education and service; signed legislation making it easier for active-duty military personnel to vote while overseas; extended the property tax exemption for fully disabled veterans to a surviving spouse; and ensured the property tax exemption will follow disabled veterans to a new property.

Shelley said he created Veterans for Rick Perry because our nation needs the strong leadership of someone who has balanced a budget, created jobs for men and women returning from military service overseas and actively supported veterans’ programs. "Rick Perry is that man. He has demonstrated his leadership on the important issues that will return our country to greatness."

Thomas Graham, spokesperson for the organization, said Veterans for Rick Perry will have a significant presence in Iowa and South Carolina before moving to organize throughout the country. By organizing veterans in those states and encouraging their participation in the process, the group can demonstrate that veterans will support the candidacy of Rick Perry for President.

"The men and women who’ve worn the uniform are actively seeking a candidate they can support during this important election," said Graham. "Veterans for Rick Perry believes Rick Perry is the best candidate—whether he’s in the race or not."

Before we get the FRaliban screaming that he is a RINO and "not conservative enough," let's look at the FACTS.

We are at war. We need a veteran as CINC/POTUS in these trying times. Sarah Palin is my first choice for president, but I believe strongly that she will not run, and although she is not a veteran, I would certainly give her a pass on that issue if she did run. She is one tough lady.

That said, Perry's veteran status and his care of both active duty military and veterans puts him high on my list.

Some will probably quibble about him on other issues, but the reality is, if we do not win this war against the Islamic radicals, nothing else will matter.

Watch out for trolls trying to distract us from that overriding issue.

Ahh the Obama stategy. Sorry but St Rick is going to be forced to hike up the big boy panties and face all the issues, including his failings.

“Watch out for trolls trying to distract us from that overriding issue.”

And another gigantic issue is JOBS, upon which Gov. Perry has a strong record. He has maintained and increased the pro-business environment of Texas and the state has been adding jobs by the tens of thousands.

I am a U-Haul dealer in Missouri and it would be impossible for me to count how many families I have sent to Texas in the past couple of years. Just look at U-Haul rates to Texas from just about anywhere.....they are HIGH due to strong demand.

In addition to the war, this election will be about jobs.....and Obama’s record on jobs is absolutely abysmal......Gov. Perry’s record shines brighter than the sun, in comparison!

In other words.. don’t vet him he served his country? I served my country for 8 years. I would expect nothing less than for people find out what I am all about before casting their vote.

If there are 30 million illegals in America, its enough to fill more than 50 congressional districts.

As an example, these 4 states are made up of 51 districts.

Anyone who intends to be president will have to face that issue.

Or Ike, JFK, Gerald Ford, or Jimmuh?

Darn straight, a military background isn’t the prime requirement. Frankly, I’d rather have a warrior regardless of sex or prior service.
