The essential point is that the classes of weapon most widely owned in Britain were always shotguns and various categories of hunting rifle. Since these have not been banned, the actual pattern of gun ownership in this country has not greatly changed after the various control measures. In fact shotgun ownership has actually increased, largely because of the increasing popularity of gamebird shooting and other country shooting sports (which in my area are tending to replace the golf course as the favourite networking day out for city businessmen).

Rifles, air rifles and shotguns are legal. If you want a shotgun, you have to have a shotgun certificate. Once you’ve got the certificate, you can have as many shotguns as you can securely store.

Automatic weapons are banned, as are handguns. That is it.

Later, standing and watching their building burn to the ground, the BBC executives and presenters castigated the government fire brigades and police for not immediately abandoning the efforts at hundreds of other conflagrations and rushing to save “the Beebe’s” property and personalities.

America's ideological split doesn't conveniently align with some natural regional difference, such as existed at the time of the Civil War. Left and right live cheek by jowl, all across the country, and cannot be physically separated without monumental dislocations to the entire populace.

I disagree. The natural ideological splits are defined by location, race, and to some lesser extent, money (excluding the very wealthy). In other words, we are already largely separated; the marxist/fascist/statist/dependents largely live in densely populated cities, while the free men and women are in more rural areas. I'm not calling for such things; it is being forced upon us. I don't desire them ill, they want to be ill. I beleive we only have a few options, because our ideology will never again be the majority world view in this country:
Do nothing and eventually be absorbed by the hive.
Resist them politically and eventually be absorbed by the hive.
Have a civil war and the winner takes all.
Separate from them and restart a new and free republic.

Fifth Point: “Stop talking...” One of the benefits of being an American is a little something called Freedom of Speech. My ancestors put it in a little document that enumerates certain God-given rights. It’s right before the one that says “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Do you have that anywhere in your documents?

By subjects, I assumed you were referring to being subjects of the Queen, which we are not, and havent been since 1981. The Nationality Act that year made us ‘citizens’.
