Are these riots 95% British to 5% Middle Eastern/African? No. 80-20? No. 50-50? No. I'd be shocked if it was 15-85.

You don't include in this list the group where it actually started - black Afro-Caribbeans (mostly Jamaican). Others - particularly white anarchists and anti-globalists - have joined in the fun, but muslim areas haven't been involved as yet.

It's easy to forget that until very recently the 'bad immigrant' in the eyes of the British media and popular opinion was not a muslim but a dreadlocked Afro-Caribbean Rasta/gangsta, with all the associated connotations of crime, drugs and sex. By contrast muslims were seen as generally quiet, hard-working and law-abiding - which indeed very many of them were. It's only in the last decade or so that this perception has changed - but the Afro-Caribbeans didn't all become angels overnight.

First point, British police haven’t been disarmed - they were never armed in the first place and constantly vote against being armed.

Second point, the British populace were never particularly armed in the first place, especially not in the cities. Historically speaking the only people who have guns in this country for the last 200 years have been farmers

Third point, only certain weapons have been banned. Handguns were banned in 1997 and only 100,000 were destroyed. That means that either a lot of people didn’t hand in their guns, or that only a tiny percentage of handguns were owned in the first place.

Fourth point, shotguns are still legal and i’ve got one.

Fifth point, stop talking nonsense about something you know little about.

The difference being that here the potential riot victims have the option of effective (armed) self defense. Rioters can get their sorry a$$e$ killed breaking in to the wrong place. The Democrats did indeed target Blacks. Most of the innocent victims were Blacks.

The, as you confirmed, unordered firing upon the demonstrators spread the Anti-war activities across the entire nation to colleges which had been relatively peaceful. It was the event which irrevocably turned the majority of the nation against the Vietnam War.

Disturbances on Friday night had nothing to do with the demonstration earlier that day which had ended peacefully around one. Drunks leaving a bar began throwing things and raising hell. The crowd was composed of bikers, transients and students and had no political aspect.

The Mayor’s decision to close the bars early caused the crowd in the streets to grow. The unrest continued over the weekend but was essentially non-political. Closing the bars pissed off many students most of whom did not give a crap about the war.

The shootings on Monday killed four students two of whom were not involved in any demonstrations but merely were walking to class and were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There is evidence indicating that pistol shots were fired before the Guardsmen opened fire perhaps provoking it. And it is known that an FBI informant, who had infiltrated an anti-war group there, was armed with a pistol at the demonstrations.

It's actually an important distinction in Britain. Immigrants coming directly from Africa differ in every conceivable way from those from the Caribbean.
