Team Obama Downplays Downgrade, But Blames Tea Party Too
Look at the history of this the fact of the matter is that this is essentially a Tea Party downgrade. The Tea Party brought us to the brink of a default.
-- David Axelrod, top political consultant to President Obama, in an appearance on Face the Nation.
The decision by Standard and Poors to downgrade the rating of U.S. government debt is:
A) A meritless attack by a biased agency that cant even do math.
B) The deserved result of the fiscal recklessness of a conservative cabal inside the Republican Party
C) Both A and B
For the Obama White House, the answer has been an emphatic, and sometimes confusing, C.
The administration and the presidents re-election campaign have taken a two-pronged counterattack on the credit-rating rip.
At first, the administration believed that they had turned back the downgrade by convincing the ratings house that its numbers crunchers had overestimated U.S. indebtedness by $2 trillion.

Sen. Harry Reid: The Tea Party Will Disappear as Soon as Economy Gets Better

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who almost lost his job in a tight race against Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle seems much more confident in the challenge the Democrats face from that faction now than ever before. In a preview for an exclusive interview with Meet the Presss David Gregory airing tomorrow, Reid contends that the Tea Party will be a thing of the past as soon as his Congress can fix the economy a goal not so far off the horizon.
Asked about the challenged from Angle and, more extensively, whether the Tea Party was a lasting force in American politics, Reid replied with little hesitation that the economy created the Tea Party, and the economy has the power to destroy it. With confidence in the work the government is doing to repair the damage in the economic sector, Reid believes it will take little to take down the movement:
The Tea Party was born because of the economy. The economy is probably the worst its ever been except for maybe the Great Depression. The Tea Party will disappear as soon as the economy gets better and the economy is getting better all the time.
A bold prediction, and one that the Tea Party will either take as a shot to their legitimacy or mere wishful thinking, both on the better economy front and on the short half-life of the Tea Party. Giving his fellow Democrats in Congress a light at the end of the tunnel however, especially after the November midterm elections, is likely a smart move for morale as Majority Leader. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/sen-harry-reid-the-tea-party-will-disappear-as-soon-as-economy-gets-better/
It’s actually George Bush’s fault that the Tea Party made S&P downgrade US debt, because Dick Cheney, the racist, used guns to kill innocent animals.
I am really getting so sick of this crap. It’s like the mentality of the entire country has slipped below the nominal level of third graders.
Crazy that the Chicoms are the ones making some sense.
Sadly we have money for constitutional spending many times over but government keeps borrowing more to blow on all kinds of other crap.
The people who want a balanced budget?
The people who want us to live within our means?
The people who want to listen to advice of the S&P raters?
The people who think taxes are high?
That think government regulation limits economic growth?
That think Obama's unfocused policies lead to business uncertainty and caution?
Those guys are the problem. We're the problem.
This isn't going to sell. The media is going to kneecap itself if it tries too hard to convince people that responsible behavior is the cause of our problems.

WINNERS VERSUS LOSERS !!!
The Winner is always part of the answer;
The Loser is always part of the problem.
The Winner always has a program;
The Loser always has an excuse.
The Winner says, “Let me do it for you”;
The Loser says, “That is not my job.”
The Winner sees an answer for every problem;
The Loser sees a problem for every answer.
The Winner says, “It may be difficult but it is possible”;
The Loser says, “It may be possible but it is too difficult.”
When a Winner makes a mistake, he says, “I was wrong”;
When a Loser makes a mistake, he says, “It wasn’t my fault.”
A Winner makes commitments;
A Loser makes promises.
Winners have dreams;
Losers have schemes.
Winners say, “I must do something”;
Losers say, “Something must be done.”
Winners are a part of the team;
Losers are apart from the team.
Winners see the gain;
Losers see the pain.
Winners see possibilities;
Losers see problems.
Winners believe in win-win;
Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.
Winners see the potential;
Losers see the past.
Winners are like a thermostat;
Losers are like thermometers.
Winners choose what they say;
Losers say what they choose.
Winners use hard arguments but soft words;
Losers use soft arguments but hard words.
Winners stand firm on values but compromise on petty things;
Losers stand firm on petty things but compromise on values.
Winners follow the philosophy of empathy: “Don’t do to others what you would not
want them to do to you”;
Losers follow the philosophy, “Do it to others before they do it to you.”
Winners make it happen;
Losers let it happen.
Winners plan and prepare to win.
The key word is preparation.
Nothing matters to these nitwits.
Need that on a shirt.
The tea party does not hold a seat in congress, and really is only an idea put forth by fed up tax payers.
The idea is that the congress should not spend more than it takes in.. and to cut the deficit
The economy is going south, our debt is out of control, none of their Keynesian fixes have worked and there aren’t any more left to try and these jerks view this as an opportunity for political gain??? Don’t these jackasses realize they are supposed to be governing, not just running for election???
WASHINGTON (Reuters) The head of Standard & Poor’s sovereign ratings, David Beers told “Fox News Sunday”...the downgrade announced on Friday was not due to the budget positions of any political party and that on any future agreement, “We think credibility would mean any agreement would command support from both political parties.”
Beers called the U.S. Treasury Department’s criticism of the credit rating agency’s analysis a “complete misrepresentation.” Even with the debt limit agreement passed by Congress, he said, “the underlying debt burden of the U.S. is rising and will continue to rise over the next decade.”

Another CYA caper developing in our Republic. We’ll see who wins this one. :-)
“”Reid contends that the Tea Party will be a thing of the past as soon as his Congress can fix the economy””
Did he fail to recognize why the TEA Party was formed to begin with? This is one of the most stupid statements I’ve ever seen a politician make. That’s like saying the firetrucks won’t be needed in the neighborhood once the fire is put out.
I know it was made in January of this year but I’ll bet he hasn’t changed his mind at all except now he won’t have much credibility if wants to BLAME the TEA Party for S&P’s downgrade, will he?
WHOOPS, Harry - your prediction was WRONG because you haven’t made anything better.
