The Tea Party’s goal-line stand . . . and how they can screw it up. (bumped)
Western Free Press - Christopher Cook ^ | August 8, 2011 | Christopher Cook

I am writing this in the form of an open letter to all my compatriots in the conservative movement: In the tea parties, in AnyStreet, in national and local groups alike . . . but most especially in the tea parties. This may be the longest single article I have ever written, but it is essential that we have this dialog. I believe this information to be vital to the success of the movement.

I read the entire article and ended up realizing that the author was a “shill” for the GOP RINOs.

The statement “The debt ceiling is a political hostage the GOP could never afford to shoot, and this deal is about the best Republicans could have hoped for given that the limit had to be raised. The Jim DeMint-Michele Bachmann-Sean Hannity alternative of refusing to raise the debt limit without a balanced-budget amendment and betting that Mr. Obama would get all the blame vanishes upon contact with any thought. Sooner or later the GOP had to give up the hostage.” outed him for sure.

We put some new blood in the GOP with some new “tea party” conservative members last time, but they were quickly shown who their masters were by the old lifers and RINOs in the party.

The Tea Party’s power only rested in the fact that in ever increasing members, FEAR would rule those in office as to whether or not the would have a job upon the next election if they remained timid, lame, corrupt, pseudo-conservative, RINO and any other spineless type of cockroach feeding upon the freedoms of true hard working law abiding Americans.

To trash Bachmann, Hannity and DeMint for their efforts to resist COMPROMISE and set a hard goal to achieve in forcing the government to actually reduce spending and NO-you can’t have more credit...you have squandered all the money you have and you aren’t going to get any more credit so you can spend more.

The Tea Party started out with torches and pitchforks and now this guy want’s them to trade them in for Nerf sticks and LED flashlights.

No, in my opinion, this article is written to put a “happy face” on the GOP and to berate Tea Party members into shame for even thinking the lifers and RINOs in the party turned their backs on the truly conservative population of our nation...and COMPROMISED away a win for the conservative American people and ensured a win for the enemy. It is really putting lipstick on a Pig and I am not falling for it.

Unless we put the fear of being thrown out of office by the Tea Party movement for RINOs and lifers, things will remain the same and we will lose both our freedoms and our country.

Allen West is absolutely right in what he said. However, he made a statement “I humbly request you contact Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama and demand they take action on the issues I have outlined.” that will not work at all and simply waste either paper or bandwidth.

Reid and Obama can’t be hurt by “hot air” for they know that’s all that these demands to do something are...nothing more. They have all of the ethnic minorities and indoctrinated youth, college students, socialists and every other means of anti-american feces in their hip pocket and don’t worry about what true Americans think.

Hot air does not accomplish anything...action does.

Many of your points are well taken. But please go back to the link to Christopher Cook's article and read the updates he has added. Here is Chris Cook's Update #4:

Update 4:

A lot of people are coming back with some plausible-sounding alternatives. I appreciate that. It beats just calling me a RINO or neocon (both rather laughable epithets, for those who know me). This morning, I wrote a response to one such set of plausible alternatives sent via email.

We got downgraded a few days after the vote. The media is trying to pin this on the Tea Party. Why? Because they cannot pin it on all Republicans. And they won’t even be able to make it stick on the Tea Party. It’ll work on a few people, but it’s too weak to hold.

But now imagine if we had allowed the debt ceiling to be breached and then got downgraded. They would make us own that, and with their control of the narrative, they would succeed. It would have huge implications for 2012.

And even if we decided that we must hold firm and allow the debt ceiling to be breached, STILL no legislation would have been passed by the Democrats or signed by Obama that would have fixed the actual problem.

So . . .

Scenario 1: Nothing gets done to fix the problem, but we survive politically and live to fight for 2012, when we can win, get rid of Dems, and THEN fix the problem.

Scenario 2: Nothing gets done to fix the problem, and we do serious damage to ourselves politically, and maybe we don’t get the White House back in 2012, and then the problem never gets fixed and maybe it’s too late for the country.

Either way, the problem was NOT going to get fixed this time around.

I am just trying to use basic logic. It’s easy enough to come up with hypotheticals, but I think the above fact is inescapable: No matter what, the problem was NOT going to get fixed this time around.

Thanks for your reply post to me. I go between trying to look at the “big picture” and my huge disapointment in what the Republicans did not get done.

So many fellow/gal Freeper comments here are showing some of us are STILL very angry because the Republicans didn't make BIG gains, and the rest of us are trying to hold our side together enough to be united in order to make the DEM power end in 2012.

Please read my post 64 where I posted Christopher Cook's Update #4. I think he does make very good points.

It IS going to matter WHO gets blamed the MOST for the problem, and pointing out that the “DEMS own it” (Head of DNC, DWS words) will help us win in 2012.

I certainly agree the Tea Party Movement patriots ARE doing great and holding Congress member accountable.

I just hope that we don't beat up and trash our side to the point that we end up handing MORE power to the DEMS in 2012.
The more we trash our side for not making the gains we wanted, the more the Ovomit DEMS and their media friends are smiling.

I do know for sure that Christopher Cook is NOT a “shill for the GOP RINOs”. If you have the time, please read more at the link to his article and more about Chris Cook.

I met Chris Cook in DC when my hubby and I were up there last February standing with our DC area Freepers friends at Walter Reed in support of our wounded warriors. Since that meeting I have read with interest many of Chris’ articles.

Chris Cook is NOT a RINO supporter and I am sure once we take the power from the DEMS he would be ready with all of us to replace ALL the RINO’s with REAL Conservatives!

Taking action is exactly what we must keep doing. We must keep pointing out to our fellow Americans that Socialism is what the DEMS want and Socialism will lead to the end of American freedoms.

Noticed you are from the beautiful state of Texas. Your state is the ONE in America that has a balanced budget and making great progress. Shows the nation what good Conservative leadership does for citizens.

I do look forward to seeing Governor Perry enter the race. I heard him speak in New Orleans and was impressed. Think he will certainly make the Primary race more interesting!

Received this from a dear friend today:

I have a prayer request. There's a lady I've known forever. She's very sick. On top of that, she's being abused by those to whom she has given everything. Lies about her abound, and seem to come from all sides. Just breaks my heart. Seems there's nothing I can do alone. But maybe, if we join in and lift her up, we can help. She's well over 200 years old, but way too young to die. Her name is America... and I love her.

Cook's response is certainly well grounded but it's STILL an opinion that might be based on a faulty premise; that is, the Dims and the dinomedia(but I repeat myself), would have won the debate. To be sure that's, uh, debatable.

This country is in heavy seas, taking on huge amounts of water and nobody seems to want to start bailing. Our financial situation is fast approaching a tipping point and bold action is called for. Our Pubbies had a chance to take that bold action but, based on fear alone apparently instead of principle, chose to punt. Once again, and I absolutely beleive this, the nanny staters are NOT our opponents, they are our enemy. They actually FIGHT against everything our Founders accomplished and we conservatives stand for. And too many of us look upon it as a game that if lost, well, there's always the next game. There may not be one.

I do believe 2012 is our last chance. If our side does not win BIG America will be a long long time coming back, if at all.

I do believe 2012 is our last chance.

I tend to lean that direction myself. I felt the same way about 2010. Conservatives made huge gains that helped to refurbish my opinion of Americans if not our political class.

The sad truth is, those who fancy themselves as our would-be masters never rest. They are always on the attack and on the offensive. If we win this round, the next or following generations will no doubt be faced with this evil again; and again. I believe our would-be masters are actually a small but rabid group who couldn't have accomplished what they have on their own. Their coalition of victims, the useful idiots that fall in behind these seditious bastards are the problem. Add some secret sauce from the dinomedia who make the government plantation look like God's gift to Mankind and, voila! Without critical thinking skills the proles are easily duped by the soaring rhetoric advocating for the workers paradise.

Well, I'm done preaching to the choir now...

I tend to disagree. Like shooting at a big flock of doves. You get impatient and try to take all with one shot and you’ll end up missing all of them.

Patience, start at the bottom and work up. And it may even impress those that aren’t quite that bad to be a bit better.

Thanks for the ping. I'll respond as I have over the years as successive accounts have spread their wings on this forum.

Free Republic is a nonpartisan, philosophically driven meeting place. It's aim is to spread conservative philosophies at the grass roots level.

Grass roots activism forces the activist into the reality of organized, political partisanship. A frustrating trip since conservatives represent only about 15% of the political spectrum.

Fortunately, aspects of conservative philosophy have a much broader appeal across that same spectrum because these philosophies represent common sense, are compatible with inalienable rights and truths and protect the individual from the tyranny of the partisan majority.

I see the Tea Party Movement as a bridge between the philosophical ideologue and the partisan activist participating in compromise. The movement, at present, is neither ideologically isolated or fully willing to compromise with its partisan enemies.

As to the plea to vote against someone; always a losing strategy, regardless the target.

Hoping that conservatives will hold their nose and join in partisan lockstep, as our current political system dictates, is also a looser. The lesser of two evils is still evil and if you vote for a liberal, regardless the partisan affiliation, you still have enabled a liberal and volunteered to live under his yoke.

All should exercise their franchise. None should compromise their core beliefs. If you are frustrated about being the 15%er, then take to the barricades. My cold dead hand is an incredibly effective reminder of partisan tyranny.

I hope to have the Republican nominee for President be someone I really want to vote for, but I will NEVER vote for any candidate with a D after their name.

***But now imagine if we had allowed the debt ceiling to be breached and then got downgraded.***

I have no idea what you mean here... The 'ceiling' was breached by over $2 trillion immediately [with which the Obama Admin immediately borrowed on], and over the next 10 years it was breached by $7 trillion.

Within the next few years the liability of the major mandate entitlements - Social Security and Medicare - is about $60 trillion. Where - in your wildest imagining - do you think this money will come from?

Aside from that, the interest on the national debt is being paid at less than .5%. The Fed promises to keep interest rates at that level for the next two years. Frankly, I doubt they can pull that off. If interest rates rise to, say, 5% what will that do to the payment on the debt? ... if they rise to 10% what will it cost us then? [During the Jimmy Carter Admin interest rates rose to over 20%.]

Who is buying our debt? The Fed! They are printing the money to pay for buying the bonds; they call it Quantitative Easing. When I was younger we called it inflation! Inflation has one inevitable outcome: rising interest rates!!!

I believe Mr.Cook has some good points, but like you, I am still upset that Republicans in Congress did not get more done. I am not, however, going to trash them as the ENEMY is the Socialist Democrats. I believe we Must vote them out, keep control of the House and take control of the Senate and White House in 2012.
