Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Sunday ruled out the chance of a US default following S&P's decision to downgrade America's credit rating.
The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default" said Greenspan on NBC's Meet the Press.
"What I think the S&P thing did was to hit a nerve that there's something basically bad going on, and it's hit the self-esteem of the United States, the psyche" said Greenspan.

So....S&P just hurt our feelings and we can get over it by cranking up the presses at the US Mints. What an economic sage!

David Gregory I know (blech). Alan Greenspan I know (ack ack).
But, who is that fellow in the video on whom the camera focuses for a few seconds, just after Greenspan says we can always print money? The chap looks like someone just peed in his lap under the table and he’s trying like crazy to pretend that nothing has happened.
Funny!!

What happened to Greenspan’s American Express corporate card from the Federal Reserve? Can’t he just put any national deficit on that, and have the Federal Reserve make good at the end of the month? Imagine the frequent flier miles; he might go to Jupiter.

Greenspan has been an incoherent moron all his life.
It is unbelievable that American leadership has ever listened to this fool.
He makes Chauncy Gardiner look like a genius. And make more sense.

CNBC should stop pirating from the Onion. That's what they did, right? This is satire, it's got to be, or the shooting will start before the New Year.
