Sen. John McCain defended the Tea Party against Sen. John Kerrys tea party downgrade remark on Meet the Press this morning.
We could have reached an agreement a lot earlier, but the members of the House of Representatives had a mandate last November, and it was jobs and the economy and it was spending. And for them to then agree to tax increases and spending increases was obviously a repudiation of the mandate they felt they had from last November, McCain said.
He said that much of the dysfunction in the current political system could be attributed to the failure of the president of the United States to lead.
The fact is that the President never came forward with a plan, McCain pointed out. There was never a specific plan. There was always the so-called leading from behind.
McCain defended the S & P downgrade, saying it would be a mistake to shoot the messenger. He said he hoped the downgrade would lead to the congressional super committee looking seriously at entitlement reform.
He also criticized the decision to decrease troop levels in Afghanistan, saying, All our military leaders said it increases the risk. Why would we want to increase the risk to the lives of our men and women serving? He said that the decrease had lead to a perception in Afghanistan and other nations of withdrawal, which was further damaging the Afghanistan mission.
“Is he insane, or perhaps has dementia?”

No, he just has Beltway Grand Delusion syndrome.
He thinks he can blatantly lie, contradict himself and not just get away with it, but actually charm us in the process.
The hugely overrated Bill Clinton was the exemplar of that pathological thinking.
McLaims credibility is waning while the TpCaucus credibility is ramping up..
The TpCaucus is growing growing growing.. everywhere..
even in places you wouldn’t expect like San Fransicko.. Chicago.. New York City.. even in Maine..
Yes, Maine the habitat of Snowe and Collins.. the two republican eye rollers and droolers..
play: Jaws theme..
A case could be made that he is delusional but the truth is, he's a liar and an opportunist.
Axelrod and Kerry both got the same talking points memo.
Yes Mr. Two Faced McPain your “mandate” is to shackle me with more government chains and suffering so you and your combined mob can live high and mighty. Forget about!

McCain is bipolar
They need this 'super committee' to point to when their constituents start howling. They could solve the problems themselves, if they were willing to take some blame, but no one wants to be blamed for killing women and children, or hurting the elderly, or abandoning our military, or whatever.
There is not one single facet of our budget that cannot be cut. Every program has fat in it, and can be cut, but someone will not like it. It will take an enormous amount of fortitude on the part of any Congressman to suggest ways to reduce spending, but it HAS to be done. We no longer have the luxury of saying that some program can't be touched by spending reductions.
Where was he when the chips were down? Where was he when it really counted? As a matter of fact, was he really ever there? Wherever ‘there’ may be!
>> McCain: “We could have reached an agreement a lot earlier, but the members of the House of Representatives had a mandate last November, and it was jobs and the economy and it was spending.”
What exactly would the war hero have agreed to were it not for the sober moderation of TEA?
McCain is probably getting an earful from his constituency.
Not really...just like the “racist” charge grotesquely put on the Tea Party, this “downgrade” charge is so bogus and easy to attack that it will not stick. McCain is taking an easy road.
Who put on 14 trillion in debt? Not the Tea Party.
Whose policies mostly resemble Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland? Not the Tea Party.
Who wants to attack the main creators of wealth in the US - the private sector? Not the Tea Party.
Who threw the nation off the rails? Not the Tea Party.
Who wants to legalize 14 million low skilled, dirt poor, illiterate aliens who are now getting free medical and education? Not the Tea Party.
Tea Party people? Oh...you mean the Kulaks? They had nothing to do with the problems in this country but they are trying to solve them!
The Dems could have fixed this when they held the Senate, the House and the Presidency - but they declined because they are cowards! They cannot lead, their philosophy is hard left, and they are for the redistribution of your hard earned wealth.
The Dems will be the reason if this democracy falls - by stealing from those who made it, violating natural law, and forcing the citizenry to protect their homes and assets against a Soviet style confiscation. Remember the Kulaks!
“Is he insane, or perhaps has dementia? Didnt he just call the tea party hobbits?”
Obviously he’s doing some back-peddling after the fallout of his earlier statement. What a turd.
Personally, I’d rather be a hobbit than a democrat; I believe hobbits have better character.
Guess McCain has finally decided to be a 'maverick' against the corrupt dems... He must be tired of putting down his own party to pretend he's independent...
Exactly. When Joe The Plumber and Obama’s “redistribution of wealth is a good thing” gave him the opportunity, he blew it. I’d have jumped all over that and not let go.
McCain needs to be put on Zyprexa!

Ol McCain. Sad attempt at trying to pull his foot out of
his mouth. His sense of entitlement is why we are in this
sinking boat today.
“He said he hoped the downgrade would lead to the congressional super committee looking seriously at entitlement reform.”
You can bet your a$$ that he will weasel his way on to this
committee and side 99.9% of the time with the commies.
Is there some way we can donate McCain to the democrat party? He’s as much a Tea Party supporter as he is a conservative. He’s the last guy I’d want defending my party.
Just throw him another pudding cup and ignore.
