White House: S&P downgrade is why Obama 'pushed for grand bargain' (HURL!)
The Hill ^ | August 6, 2011 | Jamie Klatell

The White House reacted to the Standard & Poor's downgrade of the U.S. credit rating by calling for more bipartisan compromise to "put our nation on a stronger fiscal footing."

But the administration didn't miss the chance to say, in essence, "I told you so."

"Over the past weeks and months the President repeatedly called for substantial deficit reduction through both long-term entitlement changes and revenues through tax reform, with additional measures to spark jobs and strengthen our recovery," press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement.

"That is why the President pushed for a grand bargain that would include all of these elements and require compromise and cooperation from all sides."

Hurl is right. Bambi didn’t “push for” anything except his own power. Even the Dems found him impossible to deal with, and in fact in the final negotiations (such as they were) between the Dems and the GOP, Bambi was sent out of the room to go play with himself...I mean, by himself.

The budget submitted by 0bama earlier this year was voted down in the Senate 97-0.

Boehner said 0bama walked away from a deal with tax increases in his ‘Ronald Reagan wouldn’t stand for this’ drama queen moment.

Reid tabled everything, including what was passed in the House.

Pelosi, Reid and 0bama met after that.

McConnell talked with Reid, and Boehner discussed the deal.

Those who wrote the deal and voted for it, signed it and made it law own this.

The buck DOES stop at 0bama’s desk. He signed it into law. Happy f*-n Ramadan birthday.

Wasserman Schultz has said “We own this economy.” That’s right, DNC. You do.

The HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSED A CUT CAP AND BALANCE BILL...AND HUSSEIN AND HIS ALLIES IN THE SENATE KILLED IT.

The downgrade is squarely on the shoulders of the pathetic and unmanly Hussein and his cult.

I call BS because if the AnointedIdiot would have truly wanted a “grand deal,” the AnointedIdiot would have not have left it to Reid and Boehner but would have coughed up a written plan himself. PRESENT! =.=

Well, our boy president does it again. He would never put anything on paper, so he can say “I told you so”.
After our first downgrade, caused by our gutless Democrats refusal to cut SPENDING to a sustainable level, the Boy Wonder says we need to raise taxes.
If we had avoided the credit downgrade, he would have called for more taxes (to keep us on the “right track”).
No matter what happened, he was covered.
Now we will see constant harping about the “rich” paying “their fair share”. revenues will go down until he lowers his estimate of who is “rich” to include every taxpayer.
We have to find a way to give the 50% who do not pay taxes a dog in this fight. Right now they will vote for the candidate who promises them the most benifits.
We have to eliminate the EPA by defunding if not by total elimination by legislation. No one should have to spend millions to prove they are not going to do wrong. They can be severely punished After they do wrong. The penalties can be so severe that no one will deliberately cause problems. If we make superintendents and all those above them criminally liable for all environmental disasters, deliberate or through negligence, we would see a serious decline in those problems.
Then we will see the country back at work and there will be money in circulation again.
Why is the Army Corps of Engineers meddling in what should be state affairs? Send them packing. They should have no say in anything but Military projects.
Osha had a purpose back when there were still 13 states without construction safety laws.
Now let’s kick them to the curb.
The Department of education needs to go. They have not done anything but oversee the dumbing down of our children. Put education back in the hands of the states where it belongs.
Disband all Public employee unions, especially the NEA. They do nothing but protect worthless slugs that can not hold a job in the real world.
Stop Federal subsidy of unemployment, leave it to the states, where it belongs.
Eliminate welfare as it exists today. The old days of commodities provided the basics that would keep people alive, but did not fund permanent dependance on the State.
Start by refusing welfare to any woman who does not provide the names and addresses of their baby’s daddy. If they don’t contribute send their ass to jail. It might not make him pay, but at least her won’t father any more babies while he is in the slammer. It might also be a warning to other roving baby daddies. A woman can make one mistake and it is a mistake, two is not a mistake, it is a key to the bank, she gets more welfare. After the first one she gets no more welfare until she is sterilized, at her own expense.
If you want MY money you have to be willing to do what it takes. Any drug use would result in the immediate termination of welfare and ALL parental rights. The children would be sent to foster care until they could be adopted. There can be exceptions for the truly disabled.
This might sound harsh, but we have got to end this welfare mess somehow.
We need to end income taxes and institute a national sales tax. This would tax only spending and encourage saving, giving everyone a stake in the game. NO DEDUCTIONS NO EXCEPTIONS, NONE.
This would go a long way toward balancing the budget.
My RANT FOR THE DAY, take it or leave it.....

It’s hard to picture an S&P downgrade had Cut, Cap and Balance been signed into law. Obama owns the resulting mess.

I’d like to think “He just doesn’t get it, does he?” But I can’t, because I think he gets it in spades. And the downgrade to him is a victory!

Yes, AND THIS IS WHAT John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, and EVERY REPUBLICAN IN THE NATION needs to be saying.

Over and over and over again-—do NOT stop saying this truth.

Higher TAXES were ALREADY IN THE EQUATION, since HUSSEIN will GET higher taxes when the Bush tax cuts expire.

Hussein is to BLAME for the debt crisis. Hussein and the Demon-rats have spent TONS of money that past 2.5 years, and the REPUBLICANS are the ONLY ones with specific proposals and plans to CUT and/or SLOW DOWN spending!

I am against the constant badgering of Republican leaders who have at least PASSED some cuts—the Demonrats and the media (but I repeat myself) will do PLENTY of Republican bashing while making Hussein and his worshipers out to be HEROES. We do NOT need to HELP the media.

"Over the past weeks and months the President repeatedly called for substantial deficit reduction through both long-term entitlement changes and revenues through tax reform, with additional measures to spark jobs and strengthen our recovery,"

When did Obama ever call for entitlement reform? The Republicans included that in their budget, and Obama attacked them and said it shouldn't be touched.

Months ago, Obama submitted a budget that had no cuts at all, and was so rediculous that nobody in the Senate voted for it.

Only a lap-dog Press could possible have reported that quote from Carney with a straight face.

He had Boehner agreeing to the plan of 4 trillion in cuts with 800 billion in “rev enhancement through closing tax loop holes, until he sabotaged his own plan by insisting on 400 billion in ADDITIONAL taxes at the last moment.
