The number of Americans using the government's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) -- more commonly referred to as food stamps -- shot to an all-time high of 45.8 million in May, the USDA reported. That's up 12% from a year ago, and 34% higher than two years ago.

The program provides monthly benefits to low-income individuals and families, which they can use at stores that accept SNAP benefits.

What’s this magic number all the time? Forty million Americans don’t have health insurance, forty million (or so) Americans on food stamps. What’s the next forty million ????

which is a point to where all of the grocery chains are now addicted to the program in order to stay in business and serve to reinforce the lobbying for it.

No, nearly 15% of Americans given food stamps, whether they needed them or not.

Yep.

” and 34% higher than two years ago. “

...that certainly qualifies as “change”.

I can tell you what happened to the one in Vegas. It looked beautiful at the grand opening. 6 months later it looked like the rest of the slum with an 8 foot high fence encircling everything including the parking lot. Armed security guards patrolling 24/7 and a year later it was closed down. Whitey must not have poured enough money into it.

I worked as a cashier in the late 70’s and I saw lots of people going thru the cart to put up what they really needed first and then slowly add the non essentials until they had used all their money they had for that trip. Then some welfare queen would come in and just chunk stuff up there like she was the queen of sheba.

This is what poverty looked like during the Great Depression:

____________________________________________________________________________

This is what poverty looks like under Obama:

We are the only generation in the history of the world to have "obese poor people."

I am glad Moochelle has a chance to "git her groove on" while lecturing everyone about obesity, all the while she and the Community Organizer hand out 'SNAP' cards like crack cocaine.

Feeding up new cattle for the bipartisan, anti-American socialists to dine on, when they’re no longer supported by their nonproductive positions in the various levels of government.

Bond collapse. Interest rates skyrocket and go viral. Remaining, worthless retail and other service business falls (government employees, e.g., publicly supported teachers, as customers). More government layoffs. Outrageous pensions disappear. Vicious circle continues.

Eventually, justice and small, anti-socialist, anti-politically-correct, anti-globalism, pro-American government with fewer local regulations against small, rural businesses. Rebuilding.

Have fun, because most who are proud now will be numbered in the statistics of tomorrow. Enjoy the slide of bipartisan, socialist hope and change.

They’re advertising on TV for takers for food stamps.

Which costs more of our money, but what do the socialists care? I would like to find out the total yearly cost of the food stamp program including hidden costs and state contributions, what percentage ends up being spent on overhead, and what the average BMI is of people on food stamps. Likely 50% of our confiscated wealth is destroyed by the government beast on bloated overhead, retiree benefits, chauffeured black limousines, and pay raises.

Like the government eats our money, some people given free food turn into human pigs, sometimes morbidly obese. Obviously free food tastes very good. Ironically food prices adjusted for inflation are much cheaper than they were 30 years ago from all the genetic modification, automation, and the use of illegal labor over hiring our couch potatoes.

So where are all the homeless stories they always trot out when a Republican is in office? I’m surprised this little tidbit of news somehow floated out of the cesspool called the LSM.
